What is one thing that you wished you packed in your hospital bag? (Can you guess who?s packing their hospital bag this weekend? J
Re: PG-Mom-TTC check in
Not too much new, but I did start finally feeling the baby last week and today, in particular, he is movin' and groovin' in there. I love it!! Other than that, we are just trying to decide on a color for the baby's room and I am starting to think about registering.
Any news or updates? Alexa now has 6 teeth and she walks 4-5 steps so walking is probably just around the corner. She is still sick after 2 different anntibiotics for 3 weeks, need to see if I can get her in the doctor on Friday.
What is one thing that you wished you packed in your hospital bag?
Nothing. The only things I actually touched were PJ pants, a robe, nursing bra, camera and laptop.

As I've already posted, I had my shower this past Sunday and Baby C now has so much stuff! I'm enjoying going through everything and I can't wait to get back to my aunt's house tomorrow night to get the rest of it. I'll be doing all of the returning, shopping and organizing this coming week. It's so fun!
I had a consult at the pediatrician's last night and so far, so good. The practice just moved so the office is a brand new building and it's very nice.
We have a childbirth class tonight called Moving Through Labor. It's at a studio here in center city and it's geared specifically towards natural childbirth. I'm really hoping that it's helpful to both me and DH. I feel pretty confident that I could walk into L&D right now and be fine since I did SO much reading, but I'm really hoping that DH walks out of there feeling confident as well. (Chances are, he'll just complain the entire 2 hours, but it's worth a shot, right?)
My back is still killing me and I think it's actually getting worse as the time goes on. I've accepted that I'm just going to have to deal with it for the next 6 weeks, but now more than ever, I'm hoping that the baby comes early. Now that I've had my shower and I'm past 34 weeks....bring it!
I'm feeling pretty good but I notice that I'm getting tired really easy lately. (Could have something to do with getting up 4 times at night to pee). My only real complaint is the sciatic pain which is only getting worse.
I wish I had packed a hospital bag. I so wasn't ready for Rowen to be born that I really wasn't prepared. We hadn't bought anything for him yet because I kept thinking I had so much time. I couldn't believe it when my water broke at 37 weeks. I did grab my own pillows and my slipper socks and I LOVED having them both with me. I wish I had something to entertain me and keep my mind off the contractions (like a magazine).

Nothing really...Yesterday Gianna had her first mall outing with DH and I and she did wonderful!!! DH loves what a chick magnet she is lol....
Today I let Gianna watch a Baby Mozart video for the first time in her bouncy seat and she seems to love it! Cooing and moving her hands all around watching the video....So neat!!
Other than that nothing new, just trying to get some sort of sleep routine but she has another plan lol.
Hospital bag?
I can tell you I packed way too much...I never touched my makeup and most of the clothes I brought. I wore one pj for the two nights I was there, and one outfit to go home in and that was it.
I do not remember anything I left out that I needed really....More snacks probably for at night for DH would have been the only thing I can think of.
Nothing new here. *Trying* to wait to test next week, but the waiting is driving me NUTS. I took another test this morning and BFN, but the doctor said I probably have a week to wait since I most likely ovulated late. The 'spotting' has stopped, and now I'm just bloated and crampy. YUCK!
Any news or updates?
We just got back from our 2 month appointment & I am happy to say that Little Buddha is doing well despite vomiting 10x in 2 days....she weighs 10 lbs 13 oz & 23 inches tall, staying on track w/ the growth chart!!
Unfortunately, she is still vomiting like a machine. If the vomiting does not stop, we have a Rx for a stomach U/S to figure out what in the world is going on & why she is having so much trouble keeping food down. We (the Dr & I) are not too concerned as she is gaining weight, happy as can be & is still wetting/dirtying diapers.
What is one thing that you wished you packed in your hospital bag?
CHAPSTICK!! Ok, I should have also taken a robe too...this was stuff on my list but since I waited until I was actually in labor to finalize my packing I forgot quite a few items on my list. It's my own fault but those contractions were coming to quickly & painful that I couldn't concentrate & told DH to get my bag & get me to the hospital, like 5 mins ago!! Annnddd, as Eliese did, I highly suggest eating something while you are on your way there b/c I was starving & all they told me I could have was f'g ice chips!!
Not much going on here. I worked my last Monday afternoon and was sad to tell some of our guests that I won't see them for about 10-11 months if they still come back. A lot were surprised to learn I was pregnant (I guess that just means I am super fat?). I only have 14 more shifts to go, and 5 of them are between now and Sunday.
My belly is starting to get so super heavy and I would like it to be less painful. I am getting weird pains in my back lately, but it could be from spending most of the weekend in the car. We went to a baseball game and it went into extra innings, and it was just hot and uncomfy.
I booked a tour of the L&D for Monday, and as long as no one is there giving birth we get to see it. I am kind of excited and nervous about going to there.
I am so excited to see a new name on the PG list and a few new girls to the TTC. *Baby dust* ladies
Nothing big this week. Friday we're driving to Cleveland for shower #2 which I am super excited about. Some friends from college will be there and a few are bringing their moms who I haven't seen in YEARS but were mother figures to me while I was in school so that will be special. AshNicole is coming up from Dayton so I'm pumped to see her and also take some maternity photos.
Before we leave I'm just trying to be productive!
It sometimes feels like Baby has been trying to escape via my belly button or out my left leg. I keep trying to tell him/her to sit tight but apparently selective hearing starts in the womb!
Still pretty comfortable over all though.
Haven't spent much time thinking about the hospital bag. That will be in the next few weeks.
Yay for feeling the baby! I think it's time for a bump pic from you, lady!!
I have a dr. appt tomorrow and hopefully I will find out more about my c-section and get it scheduled. The baby now weighs 8 lb 13 ozs! I am getting really nervous but excited to finally meet him.
My hospital bag is packed and ready! So we will see what I am actually missing!
Not much new here. Baby H stayed put over the weekend while I was out of town with a bunch of girls which was great ... and I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I am finally ready for him to make his appearance. I think he does handstands all day, by putting his hands down in my pelvis and feet in my rib cage. Its a very strange feeling.
I have begun accumulating things and packing up my hospital bag, but don't know what I will wish I packed until after. I can say that right now it has: robe, nursing bra, nursing tank, flip flops, slippers, toiletries, going home outfit for me and baby. I also added my birth plan and a baggy of quarters. I still need to put a sports bra in there in case I want to get in the tub, my ipod and a magazine or something.
Not much going on here. Just started having ms, but its really more like noon-midnight sickness. I actually feel best right when I wake up and it gets worse throught the day.
It's also really hot here. I have never wished we had a pool more than now.
Not really any big news. Belly is getting bigger and I love it!! I am really able to feel the baby move a lot during the day now which is awesome!!!
I guess one of the biggest things has just been my emotions. I have been doing GREAT then - BAM!! - just over the past couple days I have been a mess!! I have had a lot of stressful things going on at work and at home and I guess I just lost it. I have been going through this phase where I can cannot stop worrying about everything! I worry about my weight, exercise (or lack thereof), what I eat, if I spent too much time in a house that was being painted, I could go on forever!! I hope this worrying goes away soon or at least lessens because then I worry that I am stressing too much!!! Ugghh this is crazy!! I just want this little one to be happy and healthy and am paranoid that I am going to screw something up!!
I wish I would have brought more snacks for Timm. We had to call my friend to bring food to the room because he was so hungry when we were still in recovery. The nurses thought he was going to pass out.
Chapstick was great. I used my makeup too. Other than that, I didn't take anything out. I had K's babybook with me and filling that out killed sometime while I was alone in the room and the baby was sleeping.
Updates - She is starting to make funny noises with her mouth. Smaking her lips and whatnot. That's cute. She is sleeping through the night in her own crib! I am going to take her packnplay out of my room on Thurs. I am excited to have that space back. Other than that, we're just hanging out.
Addison is walking everywhere and babbling all the time. She knows 10 words and learning new ones weekly. She's starting to mimic me-for example if I tell the dog "Get down" she'll then babble at him in a serious tone and wave her finger at him...lol. She's using her fork all by herself at meals...still working on the spoon. I have her weaned down to one bottle at bedtime-the rest of the day she gets her liquids via sippy cup. I'm hoping to have her totally weaned of the bottle by the end of the month but I think it's going to be harder on me realizing that she's growing up so fast and my baby is becoming a toddler
QOTW: I'm so glad I brought the baby book to the hospital. It had a couple pages in it for "First Visitors" to write special messages to her. I also filled out the birth stats in my free time. I suggest bringing snacks and definitely chapstick.

Haha! I still don't have much to show, but I will try to post one tomorrow (if I can figure out how to do it). My mom saw me this weekend and said "you have a belly! - I mean you DON'T look pregnant - you just have a belly!" Great, so does that mean I just look like I've been indulging in a bit too much ice cream (which I have)?! Just the look I am going for here! Awesome.
I'm hanging in there. I'm really starting to get to that uncomfortable stage and it's making me whiny & grouchy. I feel bad about it but I have noticed myself snapping at DH for no reason several times in the last week or so. I have to try to remember that he didn't do anything wrong!
Packing the hospital bag is on my to-do list this week. I like seeing what everyone did/didn't use! Here's my list so far (feel free to tell me if I have too much or if I'm missing anything!):
robe, pj pants (2), nursing tanks (2), socks & undies, yoga pants & shirt (going home outfit), 2 onesies (going home for baby), toiletries (toothbrush/paste, shampoo, conditioner, chapstick, hairbrush, headband, ponytail holder), clothes/toiletries for DH, pads, nursing pads, snacks, roll of quarters, camera, laptop, phone, nook & chargers for all of those, baby book, boppy
Yes, this! Rowen was so tiny that he was swimming in everything. So I would recommend bringing 2 sizes.
Any news or updates?
Why do I feel like time is flying and I need to get more things in order? Feeling so much better these days. Still a little green every now and then, but overall, learning how to control it. I am trying to find some prenatal yoga classes in town and also go on evening walks with the pups. Otherwise more bloodwork next week and a visit to a possible daycare/waiting list.
What is one thing that you wished you packed in your hospital bag?
N/A - but I've heard snacks are a must according to my SIL who lost all hers to FIL, her DH and my DH while waiting on her son to be born.
Good luck to all those TTC.
My update: I've started to feel less bloated and that's a definite plus. But, I'm sick of people saying that I must be pregnant with twins if I already have a belly-in-the-making. Uhm, no. There is one. I've seen it on the ultrasound. TWICE. I contribute the roundness of the belly (1) to being a size 6 before getting pregnant, and (2) losing 7 pounds the week before I got three BFPs. I've been able to add and subtract weight to that over the last two weeks, but nothing major.
The nausea is subsiding
so I'm not taking the phenergan as of now. Still not eating meat very often, fruit is the only constant in my food life. And, it was 90 degrees here today but we are having vegetable soup for dinner because that's what I wanted, with corn bread and fried green tomatoes. Who knows. I just made that menu up on the fly, but I'm learning that's a necessity in my life nowadays.
Good luck to the TTC girls!
What's new?
On Friday, Josh and I will venture to my sonogram to check on the position of my blood clot. Fingers are crossed that it has moved and I can have a natural childbirth again (with meds). Besides that, the hospital bag is mostly packed and I am just trying to get through the school year. (12 days left) Co-workers have been making comments that I have really dropped in the last week. I have felt like I have, but I just respond, "You think?"
Hospital Bag:
I forgot Mya's baby book last time and the nurse asked me where it was so she could put her footprints in it. So this time around, that was the first thing that I packed. Also remember your birth certificate paperwork if your doctor's office gave it to you ahead of time.
I can't believe I get to really participate in this!!!!!
Nothing new since my announcement. My first Dr. appt is July 19th. I talked to the nurse today, she said there is no reason to be concerned about my blocked tube/ectopic pregnancy. (I was kind of hoping she'd say come in and we'll make sure everything is ok.) She said treat this as a normal pregnancy unless you feel ectopic symptoms. I'm happy with that.
We're debating on who to tell when. I'd like to tell a friend we have here, just because I want to tell SOMEONE. And, if God forbid, something bad happens, I'd like her to know for support reasons. I think we might wait for a heart beat to tell anyone else. I'll have to tell my boss and my physical trainer, but, I'm talking about family and friends.
Um, not much else. Don't feel sick at all, a little to early for that? I feel shifting or stretching or something in my lower abdomen once in a while, I am SO bloated and I'm really tired. Other than that, we're good.....
We're still trying to think of a fun name to call baby. Hmmmm.....
Katy and Brett ~ Runaway Bay, Jamaica ~ October 4, 2008
Officially moved in with DH last Tues. Unpacked basically everything and most of it is put away. I haven't touched my grad work stuff which is bad but at least part of the mess is taken care of. Crib and changing table are bought (on SALE at Target last week!!) and in the nursery fully assembled. That actually wasn't that bad and didn't take too long so both DH and I are happy about that.
Odd thing is that I feel weird living in my own house. We've had the house a bit over a year and I've not spent more than a week or so at one time. So it's a bit surreal knowing I'm not going back to Champaign in a few days to go back to lab/work.
Last checkup went well. Found out my OB has a mom like my mom (lovable but a bit difficult to deal with).
Never thought I'd bond with my OB on that issue. But she gave some useful input on how to approach my mom about her not being in the labor room. It was the same thing everyone else had said but knowing that she was familiar with that type of personality it felt better for some reason.
Started prenatal water aerobics classes tonight and I'm exhausted. Crazy dreams started last night so that's part of it but I took a nap before class. Good thing I did b/c otherwise I might have fallen asleep on the drive home! Eeek! So I'll have to keep a better eye on whether or not I need a nap before class in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks for the hospital bag question! I've been thinking about that (since I have a bit more time to think of baby stuff now) and wanting to start making a list.
Better late than never I suppose.
Updates: We cut Nathan's hair for the first time (he looks like such a big boy now), and he just turned 7 months (where is my baby??!), and we are still going to Baby Swimmers (which he LOVES!!).
Hospital Bag: I overpacked and after staying 11 days in the hospital (yes, 11), I only used my PJ's and nightgown (both nursing), robe, slippers, makeup, toiletries, laptop, camera and cell phone (plus chargers) and tons of snacks for DH.
I wish I would have packed a baby book, but since I was so unprepared for the little guy to arrived I hadn't even looked into getting one yet.
