Anyone use a bassinet?

We never used one with DD because we had a crib but since we just turned the spare room into a guest room, we were thinking about putting a bassinet or co-sleeper in our room for awhile.  Our master suite is huge and we have plenty of space.

Re: Anyone use a bassinet?

  • We plan to use an individual bassinet and then the double pack and play with the twin bassinet on the top for the first month or so and then transition them into their crib.  This is our plan...hopefully it will work.

  • Caroline has a mini crib in our room and we LOVE it.  There's no weight limit (like there is on a regular bassinet, or the bassinet part of the PNP), so she can stay in it as long as we want her to.

I wish we'd started with it instead of the PNP...and if we are lucky enough to have another baby, I'll use the minicrib from day one.

  • Oh good! Especially since I just bought one on Amazon.com for $35 shipped, down from $110! Big Smile  I couldn't help the deal and figured I could sell it on CL for the same amount I paid for it if I didn't end up needing it.
  • We have a bassinet and I love it! I can wheel it from room to room and she's really enjoyed sleeping in it! She is definitely getting too big for it and her pedi has told us that we need to get her in a crib asap and she is almost 3 months. They aren't great for the long haul but I love how tiny our's is and how transportable it is! We just got a travel crib for her and it's alot bigger. She's a little freaked out by it but she is getting used to the extra space. It's nice because it has 3 different stages - bassinet, infant, and toddler. So I would recommend either option!

  • We actually do have a travel crib as well. I forgot about that. It's at my mom's house.  It has 2 heights.  That would be another good transitional option as well.
  • um - do you have something you want to tell me?

We'll be using a co-sleeper to make nursing easier the first few months. Our bedroom isn't that big.

  • We did, she slept in a bassinet in our room for 2 months, then moved to the crib.  Worked lovely for us.

Not yet but give me a few months and I will.  I'm feeling optimistic now, Gen.

I couldn't pass up the deal.  I also got a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Bouncy Seat from kohls.com last night for only $14 after the sale and coupon code that I had.

I don't even know what possessed me.  But I said to myself, "I'm going to be pregnant in 3 months.  6 at the most.  Go for it."

  • Jacob was in a bassinet until he was 2 months.  It was great to not have to trek down the hall for those overnight feedings!  :)
