Do you use one in your crib? I know there are concerns about bumper pads contibuting to SIDS.
It seems that most crib bedding are sold as 4-piece sets (sheet, bumper, dust ruffle, quilt/comforter). I'm wondering if I should just forgo all of that and just by the crib sheet (and save some money in the process).
Re: Crib Bumper Pads
We don't use one. I decorated her room based on some scrapbook paper I saw and loved. I turned those pages into 3 different canvas that hang above her crib. I painted the room a buttery golden yellow because it matched the paper and I didn't want pink (although it would have matched, I just didn't want a pink overload). I bought pink curtains from Walmart that match the paper. Her crib sheet is white with tiny polka dots and it's from Target. I skipped the whole bumper and bed set.
You can't use the bumper and you can't use the quilt so what's the point? I know plenty of people do that but in my opinion it's a waste. There are plenty of nursery decor items that you can get and the room doesn't have to be matchy matchy and you can save a TON in the end! Just my opinion!
Nope, we don't use any crib bumpers. But one did come with our bedding set and I didn't know what else to do with it so I wrapped it around the bottom of the crib so MH and I don't hurt our toes if we run into the crib legs while rushing over to the crib when the baby is crying
I had my eye on the one from Amazon that lola808 mentioned, but ended up holding off for now since babies don't roll around that much when they're this young. So when he gets older and running into the rails become an issue, then I'll get the breathable one from Amazon.

We skipped the sets and just went with sheets. I got some from a consignment sale and couple other ones were gifts. We have about 6 sheets...a few percale ones, a jersey one and a plush, mircofiber one (for winter). We didn't need a crib skirt since our crib has drawers and we don't use a quilt or bumpers. I did decorate the crib with a fabric pennet banner and I think it looks cute (some many people think cribs look bare without bumpers.
I got the idea from Babylicious Bedding...they have "modern baby bedding bundle" that is just the crib sheet, a banner (they call it crib fringe), crib skirt, and a coordinating sleep sack (that they call a sleep cozy). You can also just DIY your own banner or some sellers on Etsy make them. Mine was purchased from Target's Simply Shabby line.

I bought a crib skirt (necessary b/c the crib has a drawer under it and without a skirt you can see right into the drawer - where I keep extra blankets) and a bumper just because I liked the look. They were both on super clearance from PBK - $35 total. Both are white with red stitching - no theme.
Then I just bought white sheets from BRU.
I kept the bumper in there when he was a tiny baby and didn't use the crib ever, then took it out once he started napping in there. Now that he moves around (rolls, can kick himself to lay sideways, etc) he does get his legs and arms stuck in the slats so I have been considering putting it back in there but kind of want him to get better at controlling his movements - like if he rolled into the bumper would he be able to move his head??
Getting stuck isn't a big deal right now b/c he only naps in there and is 100% supervised and on the video monitor constantly being watched.
We bought a set after Elyse was born. We didn't use the bumper pads until a few weeks ago. She kept grabbing the crib slats and pulling herself over to them and screaming when she hit herself on them... silly monkey.
We'll use the skirt when we lower the crib and we have the valance up.

Nope, we don't use them. I actually bought a smaller version of the baby bedding set that Married2MrWright mentioned before, from Babylicious Bedding - in addition to the set she mentioned, they also have ones with just a crib sheet, a quilt, and a crib skirt, and that's what we got.
