LATE! ~* Expecting A Sibling Weekly Check-in*~

Welcome, ladies, to the Expecting a Sibling Weekly Check-In! I will try to post this check-in each Friday around 10:00am-12p EST, so be looking for it! I'll also try to repost this around Saturday-Sunday so that others can add to our thread. If you'd like you can also put the date of your next checkup or u/s and I'll add next to your name so that we can send good thoughts your way on that particular day.

Below is the list of ladies who have joined us, 60 so far! If you would like to be added to our list, please leave your Bump Name, your real name (if you choose to share), and what number child this will add to your family. Newbies are always welcome, as well as proud step parents & those adopting!

For those who are newbies please read the post New to January Moms or The Bump? (thank you to mchupie!). It will help answer so many questions, and you can also grab the January Joy button code from that post. There is also a bump glossary located here. And an unofficial glossary located here. The unofficial glossary contains a lot more bump lingo.

  • Sorry I was so late with this ladies! The Bump had some techinical difficulties and me along with many other bumpies were locked out for near a week. I've also become best friends with our 2 bathrooms as my morning sickness has transformed into all day sickness. I've been stuck on the sofa most of the weekend to get my strength back. Just finally getting back on my feet. 

    General QOTD: Have you been continuing are starting any exercise? - I've tried to keep up with my pilates & elliptical, but I end up failing by day 6 and just have no energy. I yo-yo quite a bit.

    QOTD: Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy? - No not really, which I totally regretted.

    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy? I was at first and I went for walks every day and tried to eat healthy then when i started to feel like crap, I stopped exercising and just ate whatever I wanted, then I got GD so I had to change my bad habits

    I could lie and say yes...but sadly, nope. 

    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy?  I was actually and even after DS was born...but this time I'm just so tired at the end of the day, I don't even feel like making dinner let alone exercise.  And the worst part is, I know I'd probably have more energy if I exercised, but I just can't get motivated.

    Nothing major-I walk everyday around with DS and go hiking on weekends.


    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy? Yes. I didn't want to gain a lot of weight. I exercised and ate healthy last time and will do so again this time. I'm not exactly 20 anymore, so getting weight off isn't as easy as it was when I was in my early 20s.

    I walk in the neighborhood with friends a couple times a week and have kept doing that.  Doesn't hurt that SB's is the mid-way point in our route.  Looking forward to the weather warming here so I can join the prenatal swim class.  I took it last time w/ DD and it felt so good after a hot day.

    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy?

    No, not really.  I was good about drinking water and the prenatal swim classes but eating was a different story.  Didn't help that I had a full cafeteria at my work and an aversion to salad.

    ETA: Our 1st appt 6/3 went well but measuring behind.  I go back 6/16 for another u/s and she may change my due date.

     My bump name is dani838, real name is Danielle, and this is baby #2 for me! DS is 4...and has no idea just yet. I can't WAIT to fill him in, he's been begging for a sibling for awhile.

     General QOTD:Have you been continuing are starting any exercise? I practice yoga regularly due to a back condition I have, so I have transitioned to a prenatal yoga routine for during pregnancy.

    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy? I was! I am this time too. I try to remind myself I'd rather have a baby built of fruits and veggies than one built of twinkies and brownies ;) It has been a little harder this time though because I can't just focus on me completely and there are goodies in the house for DS. Avoiding the temptations has been MUCH harder already this time, but I still think I am doing pretty well.

    Nope. Just eating healthy and staying active with my LO's =D I've actually lost 4lb's and I don't have morning sickness or any food aversions so that is a plus for me.

    Yes. Because of pregnancy #1 and thinking I could eat anything and everything and not face any consequences I paid the price of trying to lose it all. It was hard but I did it so I don't want history to repeat itself :)

    Not really...just my usual chasing around of my DS

    I ate what I felt like, but luckily the really bad foods made me sick so I stayed away from them.  This time I've been craving McDonalds...so far I've given in to the cravings because I haven't been eating much due to m/s.  I'll try to stop later on when I'm able to eat more healthy foods.

  • by the way, my due date was changed to January 9th.

    EDD is Jan 22nd, *sallymad* is my SN and my real name is Sally

    No exercising me for me for weeks, the m/s is too bad. It stayed pretty healthy but I still gained a lot mostly because I retained almost 25lbs of water. eek. 

  • General QOTD:  I got a prenatal yoga video, but haven't done it yet!  Right now I like to just hang around because I'm so freaking tired all the time.  Once I get a little back I'm going to start doing it and walking with DS.

    QOTD:  I was really unhealthy last time.  I didn't gain a lot of weight or anything, but I really did no exercise and ate whatever the heck I wanted.

  • Hi ladies!!!  My next appt is this Friday, 6/11, so keep me in your thoughts!!  I am a little anxious because I have a feeling I won't hear the heartbeat this early (I will be 8w5d and I am heavier around the middle this time), so I will have to wait until 12w for my NT scan.

    nope!!!  i started walking a bit, and then m/s kicked in, plus it is hot!!!!

    QOTD:Were you big on stay healthy with you last/first pregnancy? hmmmm - define "stay healthy" lol!!  Yes and no.  I cut out things like caffeine and diet soda and i try to eat more veggies and make sure i get enough protein, but I also allow things like ice cream or cookies that i normally wouldn't eat.  i gained 60 lbs with DD and I have lost 3 so far this pregnancy, so we will see.

    I just walked a lot.  I still ate a lot of bad things and have no regrets whatsoever!  :)

    and to answer the question, I have been walking a bit more over the past few weeks but not nearly enough and I have been meaning to start working out.  Hopefully I'll actually start doing it...

  • My due date was changed at today's appointment to 1/14, if you wouldn't mind changing it.

    GQOTD:  I am training for the Avon Walk in July so I've had to do quite a bit of walking.  I plan to continue that even after to walk.  I'd like to do some kind of strength training, but I need to do some research about what's safe.

    QOTD:  I did pretty well, but it was easier because I craved healthier things.  For the first 8 weeks or so, all I wanted was fried food.  Thankfully, I'm finally starting to crave other stuff. 

     

  • i've really been concentrating on trying to eat healthier and excercise more than i did with my previous pregnancy as i'm already overweight, so i'm really trying to be conscience about my habits this time around.

  • This is yogamomnj :). My name can be changed on the list. I'm back to my regular yoga routine after weeks of feeling so sick. I teach and practice. It still feels good to do regular yoga so I haven't transitioned to a prenatal practice yet. With my 1st, I started prenatal yoga about half way through but I definitely wasn't doing it enough to be a routine. I gained 45lb and am trying to be more conscious this time about food choices.
  • Please add me! We are expecting on January 26th! Also, our first u/s will be June 22nd.

     

    GQOTD: I walk 3 miles every other day and hope to continue doing so as long as possible.

     

    QOTD: I bled off and on throughout the pregnancy last time, so I had to stop excercising. I would really like to keep it up this time, though!
