Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What will you do different. .

when you get pregnant again.

-- We are trying again and this time I am not going to rush the entire pregnancy.  I felt like I was wishing away the whole time I was pregnant with Mason.  I really didn't really sit back and enjoy it that much.

Oh, and not gain so much weight!  Wink

What would you do different?

Re: What will you do different. .

  • If it is anything like my pregnancy with DD, I seriously hope I get pregnant in like September.  I hated being pregnant in summer!

  • I will work out...I was so sick my whole pregnancy and it's the last thing I wanted to do. Next time, I don't care if I'm sick... a half hour - an hour a day won't kill me!

  • I would take advantage of the "PG women only parking spots" and letting people do things for me.  I kept resisting people's help because I felt like I could still do it and I wasn't some helpless dame!

  • Def try to watch the weight gain and be content knowing that I'll go into labor when it's time. I didn't get induced and did go to 41 weeks, but I obsessed over it so much and I think that was kind of silly now. Next time I'd like to just really be content to let it happen when it's time.
  • Try to enjoy it a little more, and stress less. Easier said than done! Also, maybe be a little more active. I did just decent with my last pregnancy as far as working out, but I could have been better. I'm sure having a child already will keep me busy and on my feet more through my next pregnancy.
  • I will enjoy it as well!! I was pregnant with my best friend who was also having her first baby. We were a week apart and I feel like we were both wanting everything to come so fast, for it to happen first! hahaa...
  • I used to always say I would gain less weight, but now that I've lost all my weight, it was pretty rad just eating whatever I wanted...

I would definitely get pregnant during a different time of year though, knowing how ginormous my feet/ankles/calves get.

  • Procrastinate less.

The day baby was born (36.5 weeks), I had the following items:

take home outfit, car seat, wool receiving blanket, glider & ottoman

His first night at home, he slept in a laundry basket.

I think I'll just plan on a hospital birth with a midwife next time.  I had planned a birth center birth (I had to be at least 37 weeks for the birth center) and my mother warned me that "our" babies come early.  I hated the nurses waking us up all the time, but the times I was in rough shape, it was nice to have them help me.

  • Be better insured.  My POS insurance through my work cost me $8k with Hayden.  Hopefully, I also won't be as sick or go into PTL at 33wks.  Other than that, I wouldn't change anything.

  • I will try to eat better and not gain as much weight.  I took advantage of the whole "eating for 2"!  I loved being pregnant and can't wait for it to happen again!  I would like to not have heartburn and swollen feet though!

    lol...that made me giggle.

  • I'm going to try to find a Dr. who will actually be there at the birth...no On-Call Dr.'s if at all possible, (don't know if that exists).  I had a dickwad of a Dr. who I had never met before, he was a total ass who made me feel weak and uncomfortable.  He was so rough with me; pressed down hard on my stomach and eventually ripped her out with the vacuum when I wasn't contracting.
  • I don't want my son during the winter months again, so we will start trying in September.  I would watch  my weight more and workout.  I will also eat much healthier now since I got gestational diabetes and will have to be extra careful next time around.

    Oh gosh!  That is awful!!

  • Not gain so much weight, and I'll probably dread the whole thing.  I was on Cloud 9 with my whole pregnancy, it was like I was high the entire time.  Until labor ripped me to shreds.  Now I'll have to get a C Section, but I also know the realities of healing, raising a newborn, stress...I won't be looking forward to it as much.  Sad but true.  I really want to have more kids to have a family, Allie is amazing, but those first 4 months just killed me....and my baby was easy.

I think this is pretty rare unless you know you're going to have a schedualed CS.

I would go to a place where there are several doctors, but you can meet that all before you go into labor.

Not necessarily. I first had an OB and was told any Dr who was on call would deliver me. I later had to change Dr's (since I ended up with better insurance) and went with a Family Practitioner who did OB work as well and he was there from 4:30pm on a Sunday to after I deliverd my son at 2:21am Monday and made sure I was good and settled at 3:30am. He also came and checked on me twice a day while I was in the hospital to make sure I was healing alright since I ended up with a C-section. He didn't deliver DS since it was a CS but he was there holding my hand and assisted. I love my Dr. I live in Seattle so it isn't like I'm in a small town or anything either.
