Can't believe it!

Hey there,

I have been looking at this website for about 6 months now and finally can post on here!!

I took a pregnancy test on Saturday and got my first positive!  So of course, I took another one and another one, and I'm up to 4 positives now!  I called the OBGYN today and scheduled my first appointment but it's not until July 6th!  I am so excited and want to tell the whole world, but wanted to wait until the first doctor's appointment.  Is it too soon to tell people?

Also, I am such a worry freak that I am worried I'm going to wake up one day and the baby will be gone!  Any ideas for some help?  I just wanted to hear it from the doctor to make it official!

Any ideas to help me stop worrying?  I want to enjoy this!

  • Congrats and welcome.

Just remember, today you are pregnant and today you love your baby. Repeat that to yourself as often as you need to. That's what i do. Sure, it doesn't eliminate all worries, nothing will, but I find it helps.

  • Congrats! I am in the same boat! I took my first test on thrusday and it was positive...so I have taken 3 more all are positive! I have a doctors appointment for tomorrow to confirm. I think I am nervous more than anything. I can't concentrate on work...I think I am just worried to death. I want to tell people...but I can't. I want to start looking at nursery stuff and finding sales on baby essentials. I am trying to start looking a midwives...I am ALL OVER THE PLACE...PLEASE HELP!
  • Welcome!!!

It's totally normal to worry, but just try to relax and enjoy it. As DH reminds me - there is little to nothing that you can do to prevent a m/c if you're living healthy. If it does happen, its for a reason and you will be okay (although I think right now that my world would end...)

There's not really much else to say to help you stop worrying. Try to investigate what you're worried about but don't let all of the statistics get to you. I think they should make a website solely to calm the nerves of preggos - content should be positive birth and pregnancy statistics.

Also about telling, it's entirely up to you. We told immediate family and close friends - people I would need to lean on in case of a loss. We're not telling others until after our first doctor's appointment or closer to the 2nd trimester.

  • Congrats on your BFP! It's hard to believe isn't it?

As the other ladies have said, worrying is completely normal, but stress isn't good for you or the baby. Thinking positively is always the way to go. I had a m/c last year and it was so hard, so of course I'm worried too. But if it's going to happen, it will. You just have to know that you have the strength to get through it if something does happen, and if not, you have the strength to get through the next 8 months of carrying this baby!

I don't know if you're a religious person or not, but this is what helps me. Anytime I catch myself having a negative thought, I immediately stop and say to myself, "God, forgive me for that thought and please take it from me." I then think of something positive and almost instantly feel better. It may sound crazy to some, but it helps me! Other than that, I just try to stay healthy.

It's going to be a long first trimester, and we just have to enjoy it as much as possible!

  • I'm right there with you!  I'm jealous you can see your doctor already!  They told me I had to wait until July 6th!
