Last night we had a party for DH's 30th. One of our friend's said that her sister Sarah was having contractions and getting ready to go to the hospital. Sarah and her husband Jake are also good friends of ours. Not long after, a text came in that she had given birth in the car at a local park while on the way to the hospital. We all thought that Jake was joking around but turns out it was true. Normailed came to the party and actually saw two ambulances and a fire truck turn into the park. I can't even imagine! This is her FB post from today:
My baby girl was born yesterday, June 5th at 6:13pm. Madelyn Theresa 7 pounds, 10 ounces, 19 inchs - born in the seat of the car (and no, we will not be calling her Malibu, or Chevy!). We were read to go to the center, and the contractions were about 1 minute long & 10 minutes apart, then really quick transitioned to 2 minutes long & right on top of each other. We got all the last minute details and loaded into the car when I realized I needed to push (and before you ask - no you cannot just hold it!) I pushed and felt her move down and yelled for jake to call 911 and pull over. He pulled into tick neck park and helped me pull down my underwear literally as her head came out. One more push and she was out, Jake caught her and put her on my chest while on the phone with 911. Super Hubby tied off the umbilical cord with his shoelace as the ambulance pulled up, and the paramedics eventually helped me into the back and wisked us off to the hospital. We are home, Maddie is absolutely perfect, and Jake and I are doing fine. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes!!!
Re: Wanted to share a really cool birth story.
No, I should have included that. They have a 3 year old boy.
