Re: Intensification of Braxton Hicks

  • I've had intense BHs for 6 weeks now (since week 28) and was put on bed rest...still no baby. I'm not due until July 17th though.

  • How often are you having them?  Are they painful yet?  I get them all the freaking time and have for a few weeks.  Labour is not anywhere close for me, at least it feels that way.
  • They come in intervals. Sometimes 15 minutes apart sometimes 40 minutes apart. My stomach gets so hard it hurts. I'm just concerned cause they dont seem to subside no matter what I do.

  • unfortunately BH don't really mean much...the things to watch for are if they are timeable (and if so, are they increasing in intensity and speed) or if they are accompanied by any bleeding.  They suck!!  I have a TON every day and have since about 20 weeks.  they check me all the time for dilation and do the fFN tests and so far all is well and labor is not immient! Big Smile
  • Probably not an indication of labor.  I do this all the time.  You can try some bynadryl.  Not sure why, but my OB always tells me to take it when mine go haywire.

that sounds more like inconsistant real contractions to me...have you had an internal yet?  I wonder if you are starting the dilation process?
  • I am not as far as you but this is also my third pregnancy and I have been having very painful BH. I was told that BH get stronger and more painful with each pregnancy.
