My sister wants to adopt but does not know where to start. She is having trouble finding rules, requirements, laws, ect. Anyone know of any sites that break down who can adopt and requirements and (or) info for newbies?
The book suggested above is good, www.adoptivefamilies.com is a good website with some general info.
Check out www.resolve.org and see if they are hosting any adoption seminars in your area. These were actually the best way for me to get some broad information on all types of adopion so I could solidify my choice.
If she's looking to adopt from foster care as opposed to a private adoption, then contact your county's children services department for some information.
Lot's of places to check out, it does get overwhelming.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
