So on 3 occasions now in the last 2 weeks DS has had a "mini drama" where he will cry out very loudly and strong, with plenty of crocodile tears for seemingly no reason... clean diaper, fed, all basics taken care of. Took me nearly 30 minutes on these occasions to calm him. Well last night during his latest mini drama my Mom and I were frantically trying to figure out why he was so upset. It wasn't until he vacume sucked my finger into his mouth and began clamping down on it fast and furiously I realized that the poor little guy is teething! I feel so dumb. I felt around his lower gums and sure enough can feel a tooth under there, so could my Mom. It probably won't break through for a while, but it's there and this has got to be what is causing him occasional major pain. So I ran to the grocery store to get some Baby Orajel to get him through the night and today will hit BRU for some teethers. Any ideas the average time it takes for the tooth to actually come through? Any recommendations on teethers or tricks of the trade?

Re: So THAT'S why he's been crying his head off!
I posted just a couple of days ago about "favorite teethers". You should look for that post to see what people recommended.
DD doesn't really care for Sophie. She loves the raspberry paci teether and anything that you can put in the freezer.
This!
DS has been teething for a month. He started right @ 2 months and I pretty much think he'll be teething forever. No tooth sign.
He really likes frozen washcloths and ice cold bottles (straight out of the fridge, sometimes I even make them with ice water). My mom swears by cold carrots, but my little guy's not old enough for that yet.
For really rough nights, it's tylenol all the way. He hates the baby orajel.
