Thank you for all of the vibes! The appt. today went really, really well We went downtown for the appt. at BC Women's Hospital, which is the best pre-natal care in the city. First of all, they let MH come into the room with me! The last two U/S's I had they only let him in near the end. Not only that they had a big screen set up so we could see the baby during the whole appt. We were both thrilled to watch the baby for so long and the tech described every single thing she was looking at! Usually they say nothing! MH was so excited because last time he saw the LO for only a couple minutes before the screen was shut off
At the end she focused on the heart and zoomed in really close... it was pretty amazing! She said he's growing very well and that she had no concerns but that she would show the photos to a supervisor (?) anyway. She came back in and said we were good to go, everything is fine. Whew! Felt so wonderful after the appt. Oh and we got a great U/S photo of the baby's face... you can almost make him out perfectly, I thought I could see some hair too.
Now it's waiting on the GD blood results... here's hoping!
Re: Update on U/S appt.
oh YAY Tara!!! I'm so happy for you (and Ian!)
but yeah, MH has been able to go in for the entire u/s too, and there's not a big screen, but it's big enough and angled so I can see it too. we've had two different techs, the last one was great, the first one didn't say *too* much, but i was only 9 weeks then so there really wasn't a whole lot to see yet!
Hooray Tara! I knew you had nothing to worry about but I am so glad you got to see for yourself...yippeee!
*fingers crossed for great GD results too* When do you expect to hear back?

The not letting hubby in? Maybe it's a Canadian thing, it's weird though huh? I don't get it. The 20 week appt. is tricky because I think it's law that they can't tell you any details before 21 weeks because some families will still abort their child... it's absolutely insane to think about that and I simply do not understand any of it at all
The hospital I went to is really great and maybe they do things differently there? But yeah, poor hubby had hardly seen the baby at all up until yesterday.
Lori, I think the results may come in today, eeeek...
I love Hawaii!

that is great news!
My mom is the head of the Imaging dept, so I can explain not letting the hubby's in. I'm not sure if it's a Canadian thing or not, but the ultrasound techs don't usually let the husbands in so that they can concentrate on reading the ultrasound. They're looking to make sure the babe is healthy and growing like they should so they don't want to be answering a whole bunch of questions.
MH was able to come into all of our "fun" ultrasounds where we were just looking at the baby, but at the 20 week ultrasound where the tech was looking at the health of the baby he wasn't allowed in until the end either.
Tara I'm so happy that your son is healthy and everything is ok!!! I was thinking about you!
You're lucky to live so close to Children's Hospital!
When do you hear back about your GD tests?

YAY!! Glad to hear everything went so well!
I think the thing about techs wanting to focus on reading the u/s applies in the US too, BUT they still let the husbands in. We were just told to keep quiet and not talk to the tech or ask questions until the end, so that's what we did, but MH was physically allowed to be in there and sit quiet in the beginning.
Tara, that's great news! I'm glad you enjoyed a little extra screen time with your LO... it makes things seem different when you actually see them moving around in there. Or at least I thought so, it just reassured that she was going crazy in there just like I thought she was
I find it odd that they didn't let your DH in before.. with each and every u/s I had DH was allowed in the entire time... why won't they let him in there?
