baby name board

that board is kinda rude. i seen alot of comments that say like 'PLEASE do not name your kid that' or 'that is such an ugly name' etc.

i mean i understand people have their opinions, but those comments just seem uncalled for when it comes to a babies name. like saying 'NMS' would do. the names that are getting these comments aren't even bad.

but whatever, huh! when your on the bump you gota wear your big girl panties. :)

    I do think that we bumpies should do our best to help people without hurting their feelings.

    I agree that many of the posts are rude and personally, I ignore the ones I think are silly questions or things that I wouldn't have a very nice comment for...Not everybody is going to follow the rule, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all." Although...I wish they would!  Some people just thrive off giving a dig.....just not my way.  To each his own.  This is a public board....so you got to expect some of that!

    I use that board a lot and I've learned quickly who the  b*tchy people are.  They have something negative to say about EVERYTHING and nothing constructive or helpful.

    I noticed that a few months ago when I posted my name suggestion. If I was being hormonal, I would have cried! lol Now it is just kind of funny. I couldn't imagine anything else as a name for my LO, especially with the meaning Leroy has for me and my family.

     lol! The name does make me think of that song! But this was the name of my godfather who passes a few years ago. He was an awesome guy, a lot like the guy in the song.

    That board is meant for people to get honest opinions on their names though.

    If they didn't want to hear the snidely remarks, they shouldn't ask what others' think about the names.

    My thinking is, if I need help deciding whether or not I like a name, it's not a name I'm going to go with.  Hence why DH and I didn't ask anyone for opinions on LO's name.

    Batman likes to watch cartoons on the weekends. Whatever.

    my name totally got butchered on that board.  Thank goodness I do not feel hormonal.  I love my name and I could care less what they say.  I post things for suport and help - not to be bashed.  If they have nothing nice to say, they shouldn't say it at all

    ditto. what is actually kinda crazy is that i posted about the name 'robbie' for a girl and most people DID NOT bash the name. and when i posted about a name that is more girly and 'normal' it was bashed WAY more than 'robbie' was. i would have thought it would be the opposite. haha.

    I think it's kinda odd that there are regulars on that board. It's fun to kill some time over there, but the responses are usually predictable since it's always the same people responding.

    I don't go on that board much. I have seen some pretty rude comments and I just don't understand why. Yes I know people ask for your opinion, and I believe that it's not "WHAT you say, it's HOW you say it". Wording things differently could make a world of difference. IF I do go on that board and I see a name I don't like or just think is too out there, I won't even comment. Why hurt someones feelings for no reason? Who Knows? Some girls are just mean...

    LOL our name choice got seriously flamed over there and I didn't even ask for an opinion on it, I just commented on a "popular names" post since both of our kiddo's have popular names apparently. It didn't matter to me what everyone else thought about it - I don't have much of a choice about her name anyways since I named our little man...my husband is naming her and he picked the name out after we had our son just in case our next one was a girl! We all have different styles/opinions...some people just have a hard time accepting that I've noticed!

    I have a different opinion of that board.  I think if you ask about your name over there you should be looking for brutal honesty.  If you post on a tri board or on a month board, I would expect people to be nice and not cut down on your name.  I think if you post on the name board you should be looking for people to tell you deep down what they really feel.

    Still, it wouldn't kill a person to be nice about it....

    Yeah alot of people over there can be a-holes. You can say I don't like it cause... You don't have to say I wouldn't even name my dog that and all the other bull that goes on over there. If I don't like a name I just say NMS... It's really that simple. One thing I've noticed is the main people who make the mean comments won't even share their LO's name or they aren't even expecting at all. Jerks. Angry
