Houston Babies

Where did you get your baby furniture?

Now that I'm officially off for the summer it's time to get ready for baby.  I'm in the Clear Lake area and will be choosing a crib this week.  Where's the best places in Houston to buy baby furniture?

  • if you'd consider on line, we got a great crib and dresser from www.roomandboard.com but it's really only worth a look if you like more modern

  • Baby's First Furniture.  We ordered our crib and dresser at the 45 N location and we ordered our glider at the one on Richmond.  Great experience.  No complaints.  Happy shopping =)
  • We also used Baby's First on Richmond.  They are super helpful.

  • We got ours from Baby's 1st Furniture.  There will probably be some good sales there around July 4th.  We bought ours a couple of weeks before the 4th and got some money back once the sales hit since it was within 2 weeks of purchase.
After 2 years and 6 IUIs, we did it with IVF w/ ICSI!

  • Baby's 1st Furniture and they have been great. Our glider makes some noise and they are replacing it - I thought I would have to put up a fight but not once have I had to convince them to do the right thing. AMAZING customer service.
  • Baby's 1st is good, but extremely overpriced!!! I looked at USA Baby and found prices were a lot less, but then looked online and found even better deals. I am a "have to have the best" kind of person, but we ended up buying online from JC Penney. They were having a huge sale on baby furniture plus an additional 15 percent off. The furniture I wanted at Baby's 1st was almost $4000. The furniture we purchased from JC Penney was around 1500 that includes shipping and tax. Great deal. Now I can spend money on my trendy maternity bag and luxe stroller and bedding!!

  • JC Pennys, even though I was scared to buy without touching it. So far we like it, but we have not used it yet.  Baby arrives later this month.

I have to respectfully disagree. All three collections we were looking at (all Munire) we less expensive at Baby's 1st - USA Baby's "sale" price was the same as Baby's 1st regular price and then like Cajun they honored their Thanksgiving day sales price for us even though we purchased two weeks prior - so it was even cheaper. So I think it may depend on the collection perhaps. Now our glider was slightly less at USA Baby so again, just depends. I believe they both price match too though but I could be wrong.

we went to Baby's 1st and USA Baby...  The set we liked was cheaper at USA baby...

#2 Craigs List.....  I know..  Kid #2 gets the shaft...

  • The only store in town that sold the set I picked out online was Star Furniture and they wanted waaaaay too much money for it.  I went to the manufacturer's website and found out that they sold "adult" furniture (real beds, couches, dinettes, etc) at another store here in town.

So I called that store and asked if there was any way they could special order some baby furniture from one of their dealers.  Long story short: although that store doesn't sell baby furniture, they were able to get the crib, dresser and nightstand for me about $500 cheaper than Star.  Plus, they happened to be having a "free delivery sale" and that saved us another $150.  It pays to ask sometimes!

     Good luck!

  • We did Baby's 1st, because we were able to get a discontinued Munire crib and dresser for a great price.

And they'll price match, too, so I don't think their prices are really that high... I couldn't really find much I liked and felt solid at BRU

  • Pottery Barn Kids!
  • My mom was really wanting me to go to Burlington's Baby Depot, and I thought she was crazy. I reluctantly went and OMG they were like half the price of anywhere else. In stock and looks great. Hope this helps.
  • I would recommend you buy it from an online store as it will save you plenty of time. ABaby.com is an online store you can consider. You?ll find a wide variety of baby furniture on their website and you can choose based on your budget and requirements. I bought a crib from them last year and am pretty happy with their products and after sales service.
