AW: We have a TOOTH!

4 days until she turns 9 months and she is finally about to get a tooth! I found out today when I was nursing her and she BIT me. Ouch! It hurt and I was surprised at the pain, so I felt her bottom gums. Yup, felt a sharp tooth poking thru! Can't see it yet, but it's on its way! Yay! My toothless baby is about to get some pearly whites! :-)

  • Ah how cute!  I hope the biting while BFing doesn't continue though...ouchy!  How did you handle it when she did it?  They say not to react big because it can scare the baby, etc. but geez, if you're not expecting it at all I dunno...

  • Really? I heard that you ARE supposed to react big because that teaches the baby not to do it again! Anyway, I couldn't help it. It really surprised me. I took her off and said "OUCH!" She just got quiet and looked at me all serious, like she knew she did something she shouldn't have.

  • Yikes! Brooke got her first tooth at around ten months... Then none... Then all of a sudden they ALL started coming in! Now she has 2 bottom teeth and 4 on the top. She bit me a few times. The last time she did it was the day after her birthday and I quit nursing after that!
  • Oh yeah... But won't you miss the gummy grins?
  • Yay! Can't wait to see a picture when it comes in :-)

Thinking of LO biting my nipple makes me cringe. I guess that's ONE good thing about EPing.

  • Yeah for her first little tooth!

How many rounds of teething did you guys go through in the last 9 months?

Yay for the milestone, but ouch on finding out while nursing! That's one of my fears (getting bitten while nursing) so I actually asked my mom about it last week and she said not to worry because babies don't bite while nursing Hmm...HMMM, either she forgot or she's trying to not worry me?

I will TOTALLY miss the gummy grins!!! So cute... :-)

Re Brooke, good to know that Alexa is not the only one late to get teeth... I think it's probably for the best. I would be afraid to continue nursing a mouth full of teeth!

Some of my friends still nurse their babies who have tons of teeth, on top and bottom. (Ages 9 & 11 months) Eeeeeek!

Now that is a good question... It seemed like she was teething and then no tooth. And then it would seem like she was teething FOR SURE and then... no tooth. That seemed to go on forever! Her gums must be pretty darn stubborn!
