https://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201006065174196

The singer?s sixth IVF attempt has been a success, and it?s double good news ?she?s expecting twins.

She has been trying to expand her family for some time, and the news comes after she turned to acupuncture to increase her chances.

Celine, who already has a 9-year-old son called Rene-Charles, is 14-weeks pregnant, and will find out the gender of her twins next month.

Speaking about her struggle to get pregnant, Celine said: ?I feel like I?ve been pregnant more than a year. I never gave up. But I can tell you that it was physically and emotionally exhausting.?

Her husband and manager Rene said of the news: ?We?re ecstatic. Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy.

?She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing.?

Not snarky...it's true!  I think it's because so many wait to have babies and reach their late 30's and early 40's (and even late 40's) so they have to do IVF and other fertility treatments that can lead to multiples.  Also, older women, even if they concieve without medical assistance, have greater odds of concieving multiples.  I sometimes worry that we might get KU with twins when we TTC#2...they run in my family and with my age, height, and weight I am definitely a candidate to be dropping more than one egg at O time.  If I do get KU with twins I will be bothering Lisa...a lot! LOL!

Now...who are the celebs with twins?

    1) Angelina Jolie

    2) Ricky Martin (surrogacy, obviously)

    3) Sarah Jessica Parker (surrogacy)

    4) Rebecca Romijn

    5) Jennifer Lopez

    6) Molly Ringwald

    7) Denzel Washington

    8) Donald Sutherland (Kiefer has a twin sister!)

    9) Julia Roberts

    10) Al Pacino (with Beverly D'Angelo)

    11) Angela Basset (surrogate)

    12) Robert De Niro (IVF)

    13) Nancy Grace

    14) Chuck Norris

    15) Holly Hunter

    16) P Diddy with Kim Porter

     17) Geena Davis (most likely IVF...she was 47)

    18) Michael J. Fox with Tracy Pollan

    19) Marcia Gay Harden

    20) Muhamed Ali

    21) Lance Armstrong

    22) Holly Robinson Peete

    23) Ron Howard

    24) Marcia Cross

    25) Lisa Marie Presley

    26) Jane Seymour

I just wish if these families did use IVF they'd talk about it...it's not a shameful thing and I think it's ridiculous when they act like they didn't have help.  It stigmatizes IVF and makes it seem like it should be hidden or not talked about in a positive way.  If medical assistance can help someone get PG with the baby or babies they long for why is that a problem?  If more people who did it would speak up, I think that would help a lot.

  • congrats to her!

wow, 6 IVF cycles...how physically and emotionally exhausting. i can't even imagine. but good for her for being up front about it.

I totally agree with this. I tend to give the side eye to celebs with twins since pretty much ALL of them (with the exception of Celine, who I take my hat off to, because 6 IVF treatments must have been super difficult emotionally) insist it happened naturally. And yeah, it could have - as you said, the odds increase with age and most of them are mid-30s-40s - but I find it highly unlikely that there are all of these twins popping up without the help of fertility drugs. Hmm

I know it's a very personal experience, but I think that the amazing medical assistance we can get in this field is something to be celebrated!
