Toy storage..

what do you use? I currently have this in my living room:Step2 Lift and Hide Book and Storage Case - Pink - Step2 - Babies"R"Us

but DD doesn't "dig through" it to get any toys out of it, she basically just plays with what's already laying around on the floor.  I want to get something that she won't have to dig through to find toys, since she has alot, I'd like her to be able to play with them.

Re: Toy storage..

  • We had a fisher price toy chest and DS wouldn't dig through it either.  We ended up getting toy shelves by enjoy plastics from walmart.

  • We have a bin organizer. DD can see everything in it and definitely digs through it.

  • Nothing fancy. All of his toys are in a laundry basket. It' s easy to move it from the living room into the nursery when we have showings/open houses. When we move into our new house, we'll probably get a toy chest or those bin organizers that sit on the wooden shelves.

  • We have this in our family room:image

We really like it because it also functions as additional seating and it's not so obviously a toy chest.  C can open it up and pull his toys out.

  • We have a book sling in the living area and we store some toys on the bottom (there's room for baskets). We also have a small basket for tiny things like balls, etc. in the living room. In his room, we have a train table we got from Target - it has two compartments per end. We're also planning on getting this Expedit shelf from Ikea (but horizontally) so that we can use one cube for one toy. That way he can clearly see what's where.
  • We got an IKEA storage shelf that has colorful bins. It works really well for toy storage.

  • I bought that thing before dd was old enough to use.  Once she was old enough I realized it didn't work for us and sold it on cl.  I had California closets come out and install closets.  I use baskets to organize toys on the shelves.  In the living room I have a huge coffee table that has two large baskets that I use for toy storage.  In our other sitting area I have 2 stow ottomans from Crate & barrel ...but the tops are really heavy and I worry what will happen when dd discovers them.  thus far, I rotate toys in/out of them w/out her knowing.  I also have a bookshelf with canvas bins in her room for storage.  I have been eyeing these, too:

We're getting into art and I think they would be perfect to store that kind of stuff in.  Good luck!
