I have a question, I have been given many gifts of flowers, cards, cookies and the such. I want to thank everyone for their kindness, however I do not know how. Is it appropriate to send thank you cards for something like this? Or is a verbal thank you enough...
thanks

Re: sympathy cards
I did verbal TYs... I was too overwhelmed to write them and I'm pretty sure that everyone understood.
((HUGS!))
I received soo many cards ... and a lot of them were from people we don't personally know, like friends of our parents, people who are in the choir with my FMIL, etc. I asked mymom what I should do and she told me sending a thank you for a card wasn't necessary. However, I definitely sent a thank you to people who included a check for Olivia's memorial... or pretty much anything beyond a card.

Thank you cards for flowers, cookies and gifts would be nice. For the cards, a call, email or text seems like enough. I've been replying to each message via text or facebook. I also plan on sending thank you cards to those that came to the hospital, sent gifts and came to see me at home. I really don't think anyone expects it with this situation, but it's a nice gester.
Sorry for you loss. I'm finding that these boards are bringing me a lot of comfort and support, I hope the same for you.
I sent out thank you cards for any gifts or help i recieved. I didn't send them out for cards... we got about 75 of them.
The funeral home gave us small cards, I just wrote in them "thank you for all of your love and support during our difficult time." and then something personal of what they did.
So either the flowers you sent were beautiful and were constant reminders on how loved we are, or the dish you brought over was delicious. It's ok to keep it short, sweet and simple. People will understand.
