1st Trimester

Measuring 1 week behind?

I had an u/s yesterday and the doctor said everything looked good (good heartbeat), but I was measuring 1 week and 1 day behind. The doctor said that she wasn't worried because I might have ovulated late. Except that I know when I ovulated (I charted) so I am definitely 1 week behind where I should be. The dr didn't seem too concerned so I am trying not to be either. Anyone experienced anything similar?

Re: Measuring 1 week behind?

  • I wasn't one week behind but a few days and I knew the exact day I O'd b/c my chart was perfect in showing it.  I happen to go in for a 2nd ultrasound and the baby is right on track and caught up.

If your Dr is worried try not to be....I know they say it could be a late implanter too

  • I'm the same.  My appt was Weds. I was charting too and still measuring behind.  Everything else looked good and Dr. was not concerned.  Even mentioned how low m/c risk was after seeing HB.  I'm going back in for another u/s in 2 wks and she might change my due date.  Could be that implantation was later?

I friend had the same thing and was measuring right on when she went back the 2nd time.  Go figure.

  • I had this problem with my first... But everything worked out. The doc put my due date at 1.9.09 because of the measurements, and my due date was 12.25.08. When I went in for my 20 week ultrasound (at 19 weeks due to scheduling) I was actually measuring a week big!! Don't worry! It will all work out in the end! Your baby will come when it wants too.
  • Yes!! Try not to stress yourself out. I knew when I O'ed because I took an OPK and we only had sex 2 times that month (the day of my +OPK and the following day). At my 8 week u/s the dr said the baby was measuring 9 days behind, and he was not concerned at all. There was also a good heartbeat. He made me come back 2 weeks later, 'just to make sure'. 2 weeks from HELL! When I went back the baby had caught up, it was measuring just one day behind. A week later I went for my NT scan and the baby was measuring a day AHEAD!! So, just try to not drive yourself crazy, although I know you will because I did. I will send prayers for you and your LO!!

  • I had my first ultrasound yesterday and I am measuring at 6 weeks and 4 days not the 8 weeks and 4 days I thought I was based on my last LMP. We were not tracking anything and this was a total surprise but we have to go back in two weeks to see if there has been any progress or not.

It is going to be the longest two weeks ever.

  • This happened to me with this pregnancy and I too had to wait 2 weeks and go back in to make sure the baby was ok.  In the end, everything worked out and the baby is right on track ... I'm due on Thursday!
  • At my first u/s I measured 4 days behind (doctor didn't change my due date) and when I went for my NT scan I measured 6 days ahead.  I wouldn't worry to much if your doctor wasn't.  The tech said they don't change your due date unless you are 2 weeks off b/c of the margin of error.
