3rd Trimester

39 weeks with first...sharp/shooting pain in lower belly crotch/pelvic area

Keep getting these sharp shooting pains in my lower belly that will shoot down through my crotch. When it happens and I am standing up it hurts so much it stops me in my tracks. I dont think that these are contractions....could it just be the baby laying on a nerve or engaging? My last appointment on Thursday I had zero progress.

  • Lightening Crotch...enjoy!!!! I have had these since about 34 weeks. I am now getting them accompanied by cramps in my hips and groin. Not much to do...I feel your pain!

  • yup, same thing happens to me too! I think it's just pressure on nerves...but yeah it'll stop me right in my tracks, and make anyone around me jump three feet and ask if my water broke. seriously?!
  • Yeah, ditto lightning crotch.  It totally sucks, but it likely means that baby is dropping and cervix is getting ready.  Hopefully you and I both will go into labor today! :)

  • I've been getting it the last week :0( NOT fun. But I tell myself to suck it up bc when I'm having actual contractions and in labor I'll wish the pain was the lightening crotch. lol. :0(

  • I had the same pains from about 35 weeks on. It was kinda scary at first but when I talked to my ob about it, she said they were fine. If you are concerned, you can call or bring it up at your next appt. Those last few weeks your body is going through all sorts of changes getting ready for labor and delivery!
