I'm just curious what other people have for commutes. I started a full time job on Tuesday. When I was offered the job DH and I talked and we agreed to move, but have to give our landlords 60 days notice so we agreed that I would just suck it up and deal with the commute and move August 1st. It turns out the commute there isn't bad (65 minutes) because I'm just ahead of the traffic, but the commute home is taking over 2 hours. At this point we're looking at a place on Sunday that is available July 1 and if we like it and get it we're just going to lose the last months rent and move (I have money from the sale of my grandmother's house that we can use for 1st/last/security). I love the job - its in my field and fast paced and intersting, but I can't stand the 2 hours that it takes to get home since by the time I get home I get about 20 minutes with DS before we have to start his bedtime routine. The other thing is that I put $85 worth of gas in my car since Monday night for the commute which is going to get very expensive.
TIA!
Re: How long is your commute?
Right now I commute about 20 min to get to daycare plus 10 more min to get to my job, so short compared to yours. It's pretty much the same time in the afternoon because I don't hit bad traffic.
90 minutes each way
My DH and I both knew that our commutes would double when we moved to our new house, but we figured that being closer to family was worth it. I truly cherish my time in the morning with my DD, but it's sad in the evenings when I only see her for 30 minutes before she is going to bed.
Less than 10 minutes if no traffic. Up to 25 if traffic is bad.
