Help! Talk me off this ledge...

My mom asked me to download all of the photos she has on her digital camera.  I do this with my own camera every freaking day.  So, I put her memory card in and my computer has a comlete meltdown.  I take the card out, reboot the computer and now it is telling me there are no images on the memory card.  And when I put it back in the camera it tells me it has to be reformatted and everything will be erased.  Crap!!!!

I told her she needs to take the pictures off her memory card more often.  I think I just lost 200 photos from this entire summer.  I know in the big scheme of things this isn't a big deal but I just can't stop crying about it.  I hate being stupid!

    Oh my goodness!!!  I would be hysterical!!!  But it's not your fault...{{hugs}}

    Maybe you can take it to a pro to see if they can still get them off the card?

    can you try running to a walgreen's and sticking it in their machine? that way the tech can help you, and you can just burn them to a disk and not risk your pc...

    DO NOT format your card. Take it to a local photo shop and they can recover the images, or you could buy image recovery software. Once you format your card the chances of recovering the images is slim to none.. I learned that the hard way with 175 pics. from our trip to Yosemite. Good luck, sorry this happened.. it can be so stressful!

    Do not reformat! ?Try it on a different computer. ?Once mine did that and we tried DH's computer and it worked fine. ?I thought I'd lost all my niece's baptism pics but we were able to recover them. ?GL!?

    Sorry to hear that!  Good luck.  Definitely take them into a Walgreens or somewhere like that and have them take a look.
