I tend to call him "my little sh!t head" in the most loving way too. I know there is a million other little cute names I could call him.. but since he was in my belly I would call him "my little sh!t head".
ok, i should clarify. I do not call it TO him.. When DH has him when Im at the store or out doing something, I will call or text him and say whats my little sh!t head doing.
Now saying it outloud.. I know why I'd get judged..

Ah.. I call her that sometimes, most of the time it is just bug. that or I use her full name. My two and a half year old niece knows all the swear words and I don't think it was from them callin her a shithead every once inawhile. They just learn them and she knows not to say them cause they are "bad words" she tells her daddy bad word daddy whenever he swears. It is hilarious.
They are just words..

My DH does this and It drives me nuts. It really pisses me off! He thinks its cute. I do not because for one its a curse word and for two I think that calling your children mean names even in a playful way is hurtful.

Please explain to me how a two and a half year old "just learns" profanity. Is this sort of like how they just learn to crawl, or stack blocks, or something like that? They just independently wake up one day and start swearing? Oddly, I haven't noticed that with my two.

And dont they get that teaching your kid that adults can do it and it's fine but kids can't say those things isn't any better? Teach by example. Ugh.
LOL! This exactly! I call Elijah "booger." I got on this thread thinking I was going to confess to calling my angel-faced chunky monkey "booger," simply because I thought it would be an awesome football nickname when he plays someday. My goodness, Blair is right. Doesn't seem so bad now.
Good grief, OP. I used to have the worst potty mouth known to mankind and I've never called my children sh!theads. That's deplorable. Thing is, you can always correct that behavior. Clean it up and pick something endearing. Ex--stinker, goofball, etc.
Re: any names you call LO that you'd get judged for?
Your LOs first words are probably going to be sh!t head. As long as you're ok with that...
I know you don't really mean it, but I still really think it's not ok to call your precious son that. Maybe you could substitute little stinker?

Oh, well THAT'S totally fine then.

Yeah, that's HILARIOUS. Just a rollickin' good time when a 2 year old knows all the curse words and corrects her dad when he CURSES IN FRONT OF HER.
What the heck is wrong with this thread?
ummm, no. That is not ok. I strongly believe we have a lot of power in our words, and we need to speak love and blessings over our babies.
Even though you're saying it in the "most loving way possible", it still is NOT by any means, a LOVING thing to say.
Wow! No comment.
You really do this?
In answer to your question, no, I don't think I'd get judged for what I call him. I call him "Jack" and "baby."

Please stop calling your precious baby a shiithead. That hurt me just to type it. That is seriously awful.

I love how she clarified that she calls him that "in the most loving way".
That's like saying, "I slap my kid, but it's just a love tap"
