i am curious what has worked for people...
we have gotten our LO to pretty much fall asleep on her own for naps and bedtime. i thought if she could fall asleep on her own for bedtime she'd be more likely to STTN, but not so much! she is still up multiple times and can be impossible to settle back down in her crib, so i've started a bad habit of bringing her in bed with me, so we can get some sleep. i really want to break this habit and get her STTN, or at least only waking once or twice for a quick feed and then back to sleep in her crib.
has anyone dealt with this? what worked to get your baby sleeping better? and if you BF, did you stop night feedings, or did you continue to feed them at night while sleep training?
i hate listening to her cry- especially in the middle of the night! but i know some tears are inevitable. i've read NCSS and Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby. What does Ferber say about night wakings? I might have to buy his book too...
Re: Sleep training in the middle of the night
My daughter continued with her night feedings until about a month ago. She had only been wanting one night feeding from about 5 months up until that point though.
If she woke up hungry, I fed her, and then put her back down. She did not always like it, but was usually back asleep wthin 5 minutes.
I also read HSHHC, and the author stated that some babies continue to need night feedings up until 9 months.
Good luck!
