First Night Away

We're taking an impromptu trip tomorrow.  My MIL will be staying with Elyse.  I'm REALLY excited and REALLY nervous at the same time.

I haven't been away from her for more than 3 hours, so this is a huge milestone for me.

Russ is taking some customers and their wives to the Nickleback concert in Vancouver.  We're flying in right before the concert and flying back home the next morning.  So I think I'll be away 20 hours.

I'm looking forward to spending some much needed time with Russ.  I'm really working on managing my worries because Elyse will have everything she needs here.

Re: First Night Away

  • go enjoy yourself!!! at least you are leaving to go do something fun and not something like work.  i know it is soooooooo hard to leave them, the first time i left A it was with my mom and i totally trust her, but it is still so hard! but just remember that you'll be a phone call away so if your MIL needs anything, you'll be there to answer her Qs and Elyse will be just fine!! have fun!! lucky you...we haven't had a single date night yet.

  • Aww...have fun!  Try not to worry about her - she'll be fine.

We haven't had a date night either so I'll live vicariously through you.

  • Ooohhhh!  Vancouver!  Van in one of my favorite cites (I live in Calgary).  Too bad you can't stay more than 20 hours....lol.  Good job on taking some time for you and your DH.  It must be soooo hard being away from her!  Have fun and try not to fret too much!

MiniWheats I didn't realize you were Canadian!  I live in Northern BC.

We were debating staying longer, but I wanted to make the first trip away a quick one.  There isn't a ton of time for shopping so I'm already making a list of stores we need to hit.

  • So happy for you Teri, you'll have a ton of fun!  I hope the weather improves too :)  Just think of the sweet reunion you'll have with your baby girl when you get home.  Have a great time girl, I'll wave to you from my end of town.

  • Wow Teri that's awesome...what a great step as first-time parents.  I may have to leave Libby overnight when she's about the same age (for a work trip) and am nervous about it too.  We're debating whether or not to just have her go with me (and my mom) or leave her at home with J and my mom.  Not sure yet.  My main concern is that she doesn't take a bottle (only drinks EBM by cup) and is very boob-oriented (loves to suck and won't take a paci).  I know you're nursing Elyse and will be curious to hear how you feel the night away goes...GL!
