I turned on the radio this morning and the guys from 105.9 were discussing coed baby showers. It's kind of funny that their view is pretty much what most of you posted. They think baby showers should be women only parties. When people mentioned coed cocktail parties for baby showers, they said those weren't baby showers, "no games, no opening of presents, that's not a baby shower, just a baby celebration." They didn't get the point of those parties and said that you can have a party like that any day and that women should have their baby showers. They also mentioned how most women like to get away from their husbands at baby showers and talk about girly things and they don't want to be there either, lol.
Anyway, I just thought it was hilarious how their point-of-view was pretty much in line with what most women probably think of when it comes to baby showers. I like coed showers, but at the same time I guess it really depends on your guest list. I already have 50+ women on my guest list so it would pretty much be my wedding all over again if I invited all the DH's, too.
Re: guys' take on baby showers
Our baby shower was like a wedding! We had a DJ, a bartender, the works! I think people had a great time. We didn't play games, it was pretty much a celebration! So many people gave gifts and diapers that we started buying diapers just two months ago!
That's funny. I guess I'm not surprised, although a shower like Yvette had sounds like so much fun.
Adri, your baby shower will be wonderful!
That is funny. I usually listen to them in the AM, but never made it to that station today. Good insight. I haven't really discussed it yet w/ Dh, but I think I'm leaning towards women only.
I went to a baby shower just like Yvette described and it was awesome! They actually had a guayabera theme, w/ a live band and all! LOL Def not your typical shower, but loads of fun.
