  • Thanks for asking this, I have the same question.

  • I am not buying any just yet... I am just using what I got from my showers. I have tons because I had 2 diaper cakes and People gave us diapers as part of gifts too... We have alot of newborn or size 1 diapers and we have a case of size 2,3, and 4 also...

  • We have purchased probably around 200 newborn diapers of differing brands to see what we like.  Sadly that will only last us 10 days....so it's just a jumping off point.  :)  I'm sure we will buy more before they get here.

  • 1 pack of newborns (pampers), 1 pack of size 1 (huggies).

I do this every time... this way I will have at least one pack of the size the baby will need and I can decide early on which one works best with baby.

I never buy a bunch ahead of time because you never know ones will work.  (For example - some people love Pampers, but for us, they leak like crazy with just one pee.)

  • I have 2 big boxes of Pampers size 1 and 2 smaller packages of Huggies size 1. I am not buying any newborns because my little guy is measuring quite big. I figure DH can run out and buy newborn diapers if he ends up smaller.

  • DS was in newborns for about 3 weeks - with 12-14 diaper changes a day, we sailed through many packs of them.  I didn't buy any diapers back then because of not knowing which would work.

With this PG, I have 3 packs of Huggies Pure&Natural newborns and a pack of size 1's.  I'm on a quest to find some Pampers without the dry max chemicals in them but haven't been successful yet.  I find Pampers are softer than Huggies, too, but I've read too many horrific stories about the dry max technology now in Pampers (causing some cases of chemical burns).

I'd recommend getting a few packs of newborns (usually only have 30 or so in each one) because that will last you a few days, basically.  Then, you can always send DH out to buy some once you know which brand you prefer.

    HTH!

  • I'm using Nature Babycare. They are completely biodegradable, even the package they come in. I was leaning toward cloth diapers but REALLY didn't want to deal with the laundry part, then I found these. You just throw them away like any other disposable diaper. I got 288 (8 packages) to start out in size 1.
  • FYI, Giada was 8 pounds 10 ounces at birth and the hospital even put her in size 1 diapers. So, if you have a bigger baby you may never use newborn size. I wouldn't buy more than 1 pack of nb to see if you will ever even use them. With the way Ben is growing you will be using size 1!!!! :)
