Maternity leave question...

I work for a small business and am taking 8 wks unpaid maternity leave.  Does anyone know if I would be able to collect unemployment during this time?  I didn't think so, but someone told me I should be able to.  Any info is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!!!  :)

    I am pretty sure that you cannot collect unemployment since you are technically not unemployed (your job and position are protected by law).  You can check out the Department of Labor website for more information https://www.dol.gov/whd/fmla/index.htm, or call info line at 211.  I would start with 211 as they give the best information.  I hope that helps!

    You won't be able to collect unemployment, but if you have short term disablity benefits you might look into them.
