Going for 3rd opinion after 6 month meltdown/gave up...

I posted this on IF but I have a sneaky suspicion that I may know more people on this board, and I might fit better here. I haven't posted in ages, well, I might have posted before I went for my AWFUL 2nd opinion, but here I go again, trying for a 3rd opinion, and personally I think I'm insane for doing it. I think I'm partly doing it to get everyone off my back (MOM!!)

Here's the drill, I've decided that:

1. after being released by my RE at Main Line Fertility (who I loved) back in August 2009 because I have premature ovarian failure (POF) and we don't have the means to afford IVF and donor eggs,

2. after having an awful experience at the Reproductive Sciences Institute being forced to have a cycle monitored when I told her we weren't going to do anything with that cycle because I was going away in 5 days so we couldn't complete the cycle anyway,

3. and after being told by my regular edocrinologist that my POF was very likely caused by my hyperthyroidism,

...that I'm going to be a glutton for punishment and go for a 3rd opinion, this time at Penn Care for Women at Radnor, hoping that maybe now that my thyroid is under control, my weight is under control, I'm healthier and taking better care of myself, something maybe changed!?!

Does anyone here see someone at Penn Care for Women at Radnor (PA), and if so, who do you see? Do you like them? My appointment isn't until June 22. I guess I'm looking forward to it. Honestly, I haven't decided yet if my head is back in the game yet, but we'll give it a try maybe by then it will be.

  • Hi... I work in Radnor! I haven't been to Penn Care for Women so I can't speak to that. The Philly board will probably have some more information on them.

I went to Northern Fertility (they're RMA now) and loved it there - I saw Dr. Castelbaum. They have offices in Blue Bell, Center City, WIllow Grove and Langhorne. Are you seeing an endo for your thyroid?

Good luck whatever you decide! It's tough to go through all this, both mentally and physically.

  • Thanks everyone! I do know a friend who went to Penn Women and she had tremendous success. So, we'll see. At the very least going for the consult will be fine.

Get out wndrwmn: I live and work in Wayne! Yes, I'm being treated by my endo for my thyroid (Dr. El-Hajj). It's completely under control and now that I'm taking care of my weight gain from past IF treatments, a myomectomy, and sheer laziness, I lost 10 lbs and just had my synthroid dosage lowered (yay, me!)
