Foods You Hate (due to pregnancy)

Ever since the bean, I hate the following foods I use to love:

Thai, Special K Cereal with dried strawberries, strawberry cereal bars and pita chips - anyone else sick of something they loved before they got KU?

Re: Foods You Hate (due to pregnancy)

  • Tilapia.  I ate it a few days a week prior to being pregnant.  Due to my seafood aversion in the 1st tri, I stopped eating it and for some reason haven't been able to go to it it at all.

I kind of wish that I hated more foods, more specifically chocolate, ice cream, cakes of all sorts, etc.  I can't seem to get enough of those....

  • Totally! We were in mex during my 1st tri. I love garlic, but I couldn't stand the smell of it when I was PG. I was so miserable b/c most of the food in the area we lived in had huge garlic elements. I love garlic again, so there's hope for your special K aversion.

  • In the first tri. I couldn't stand the thought of lattes/ice cream/sweets for some reason which was CRAZY because I have always had the worst sweet tooth. It came back by the middle of the second tri and now I can't get enough of those!

Otherwise, no. I wish I didn't like more so I wouldn't be eating anything and everything in sight!

  • oh...and cold sandwiches for the longest time, which was weird because I used to eat one for lunch every day. Couldn't even choke it down if I was starving.
  • Almonds are pretty much ruined for me, and any cajun food. Just thinking of them make me sick to my stomach

    Ditto this.

My list continues with garlic, as well as any and all meat.

  • I ate yogurt almost every single day pre-pregnancy and couldn't even look at it during.  Oh, and saltines made me gag!

I think the same goes for food you hated...you end up wanting.  I am a vegetarian and only wanted meat the whole time!  I wanted it for breakfast, lunch, dinner AND dessert!

  • Meat - I didn't want to see or smell the whole pregnancy. 1st tri I wanted nothing to do with sweets, but that certainly changed by 3rd tri ;)

  • I had a lot of food aversions in 1st tri.  I basically couldn't eat any meat -- especially red meat.  I still can't do spaghetti.  And anything with a strong smell set me off in those first few weeks, but thankfully I got over that!
  • The thought of raw chicken in my first tri was almost as revolting as some of A-man's diapers!
  • so far, all I can't stand is garlic.  The smell of it makes me want to hurl.  Although, I went to the grocery store today.. and couldn't get out of there fast enough.  All the smells in there were so overwhelming, I thought I was going to be sick.
  • Salads, carrot sticks and raw veg in general- geeze, that was the worst! I now happily eat salad every day but threw it up if I even tried when pg.

I, too, wish I had the aversion to sweets and carbs- x3 I loved that crap!

  • I can no longer eat anything with pesto, & I used to love it (on sandwiches, pasta, etc).  For the first several months, I couldn't tolerate onions, but that went away.  I am now obsessed with fruit and sweets, & I didn't really like either of them before I got pregnant.  So weird.
  • I forgot I haven't had coffee in about 3 months - miss it but the thought of it makes me sick. Also sweets gross me out - I use to LOVE cupcakes. :(
  • Coffee and anything with peppers, including Mexican food, which I used to love!  I still can't eat or smell peppers without being grossed out, but I had an iced coffee last weekend and it was delish!!!

Pre-pregnancy I always had a crazy sweet tooth.  Now I like sweets, but they just don't satisfy me the way they used to and so I don't crave them anymore.  I do LOVE sour stuff now, though, and so I've been munching on sour patch kids every few days.  I also love eating granny smith apples with a side of chips (sour cream/onion are my fav).  Never much cared for sour or salt, but now the combo is awesome!
