peeing through diapers at night

ok so DD is peeing through her diaper - even halfway through the night!  i don't know why. I had wanted to start transitioning into not changing her since all the books say to do that and I feel like we are almost there with STTN, but how can I?  besides the mess, I am sure she is uncomfortable..... any recos on better diapers, night diapers, tricks etc?

Re: peeing through diapers at night

  • DD was the same for us.  We change her right as we are putting her to bed and use huggies night time diapers.  The smallest size you can get is 3 - which is perfect because it is one size up for her and that is what they recommend at night.

  • go up a size or get huggies overnight diapers.
  • I would either try the next size bigger or a different brand.  We LOVE Pampers Baby Dry.  The boys wear them for up to 13 hours sometimes and not one leak.  They weigh ten pounds, I swear, when I take them off, but they hold the pee!
  • I really like fisher price overnight diapers. theyc are the only ones that DS doesnt pee through at night!! You can only buy them at BRU.

  • ds started this around that age...drove me nuts!!! after trying many brands of diapers and sizes, we finally discovered that one size larger and pampers baby dry worked best for us :-)

none of the overnight brands worked : / but the key has always been one size up for night diapers....still works and he is almost 2 :-P

    good luck!

  • Overnight size 3 diapers, either Huggies or Pampers. We had this issue with out smallest because I didn't think I could keep a size 3 on her she was/is such a skinny minnie. I had to overlap the tape in the front of the diaper but it stayed on her overnight. She was so small she was still in a size 1 diaper at 8 months of age. So even if you don't think she can do a size 3 yet, I would get a small pack and give it a try.

I did write to Huggies when they were small and requested they make a smaller size for overnights because some younger smaller babies do sleep through the night and need an overnight diaper. My girls sttn 12 hours at 3 1/2 months old adjusted (4 1/2 months real age). They said if enough parents were to write to them and request it they would look into making them in smaller size.
