Giving clothes away

So I have numerous friends that are pregnant with girls and they want my daughters clothes but I wanna keep them for my next daughter, I guess if I have one. Is this wrong? I would give the clothes away once I'm done having kids.

Re: Giving clothes away

  • Nope! Tell them to buy their own clothes! We only gave away the ones I didn't care for.

I told them to try garage sales. That's where I bought alot of them. But one friend got mad at me cause I wouldn't give them up.

This.  Tell them to suck it and clothe their own babies.

  • I'm planning on keeping all our newborn stuff for the second LO also. That's a little jerkish of your friend to be mad at you because you're not giving them handouts!

Yep. They need to be able to afford to clothe their own babies. You're never required to give anyone your hand-me-downs..except your next kids. If they can't afford clothes, how will they afford diapers?

Just tell them, sorry but you are saving them for your next kid.  You would hate to hand them out and not get them back when you needed them, or for them to get stained.  Maybe part with a few of your unfavorite pieces to appease them?  I'm keeping a plastic bin of each size for kid #2, and if it doesn't fit, I'm weeding out my least favorites and giving to DH's cousin.  Although I do feel weird like I'm saying, these aren't good enough for me to keep, but here, you take them!

  • If they are the ones asking for your daughter's clothes, then that is just plain tacky.

Tell them to go buy their own.

Oh yes! I never tell them I've kept my favs though. I just hand over a bag, and that's that! I have a pregnant friend who asked for hand-me-downs and I just gave her a few. She doesn't need his whole wardrobe!

Definitely true. Idk if giving her the ugly ones is mean.
