liberty hospital = upset momma.

this is my 3rd pregnancy. i've always has blue cross insurance and my work offers prefered care blue or something like that, and that has been my coverage for 4 years now.

i've always gone to obgyn and my kids and i's family doctors here in liberty... i called to make my first appointment for this pregnancy and was told my ob only delivers at liberty which is out of network now for my insurence.

and i'm having a slight panic attack over it all.. i've had nothing but great experiences with my ob and liberty and the thought of trusting or delivering anywhere else scares the crap out of me.

has anyone ever paid out of network costs? or have any suggestions? i've toyed with the idea of natural birth this time around because the meds always make me super groggy afterbirth.

help.

  • Personally, I wouldn't want to pay anything extra then necessary. We have great insurance and only had to pay a small daily copay while in the hospital, but everything else was completely covered.

But you have to do what feels right for you and your family. Good luck!

  • I am in a similar situation. I live in Liberty and while I have never delivered there, that is where our doctors are and where we have always gone. However, Dh's work recently switched to the same blue cross insurance and I freaked out when I realized that I couldn't deliver there. While we are not pregnant yet, I wanted to figure it all out before I had to choose a doctor. I researched and toured NKC and St. Luke's Barry Road. NKC was nice and is finishing up with remodeling their Delivery and Recovery Floors. The rooms are nice and private and  the design of the room felt very calming. The only downside is that they do not have the big tub like Liberty and you have to go to a different room after delivery. I preferred it to Barry Road, but Barry is a lot smaller of a hospital. Check out all of the hospitals close to you before you make a decision :) Good luck!
