I also thought it was a bad spelling of Quinn however I am a big believer in not Americanizing names. So maybe find a name that doesn't look like a bad spelling of an American sounding name?
I think it's wrong to try to Americanize everything and everyone. If you like it as a first name then use it as one. I like it the way it is and recently saw another little girl with the same spelling.
I would have pronounced it correctly, and on first glance, I knew it had Asian origins, although I wasn't sure which culture. I have a close friend who is Chinese, and her legal name has the traditional spelling. In high school, she chose to Americanize the spelling to make life easier on her teachers & her friends, but that was her decision. Her brothers had all done something similar as well. I love the idea of using a name that honors your heritage, and I greatly dislike the pressure to Americanize everything, so if you use it (whether for a first or middle name), you should definitely keep the traditional spelling.

It is a beautiful name, and spelled perfectly the way it is meant to be in Vietnamese. Do not change the spelling simply because people may not know how to say it.
My name is Tara. Simple, 4 letters, and can be pronounced in two ways. Even though it's an easy name, there is no guarantee that it is said the way it is meant to be for me.
Pick the name that you want the most. Your daughter will only have to tell teachers her name once a year! Strangers come and go, but her friends and family will know her name.
prounced Quinn. But for the love of God, if you choose this name, at least spell it Quinn, like it should be.
Apparently you didn't read her post where she stated that this is a Vietnamese name and is therefore spelled correctly? I hope that is the case.
I knew it was a Vietnamese name right away (I'm not Vietnamese, ftr). If you like it, go for it and spell it whichever way you like. It's not hard to tell people, "It's pronounced like Quinn, but spelled in the traditional Vietnamese way." It's a pretty name either way!

Re: Quyhn - a girls name
At first glance, I'd say Quinn.
The spelling kind of hurts my brain, but it's pretty early where I'm bumping from, so there's not much brain to hurt this morning.

I think this would be a very cool middle name, but difficult for your child to deal with as a first name.

I agree. I love that you are using a name that honors your heritage, though. What other names are on your list?
This exactly.
This-she might have to explain her name a lot growing up. I like the middle name idea!

I'm Vietnamese as well, and it's spelled Quynh. Very pretty girl name. I think it sounds great with Quynh Nhu or Quynh Anh.

It is spelled the way it should be because it's a Vietnamese name, not American. It was a very ignorant comment on your part.
Yes thanks!! I noticed after I posted that I got the h before the n but then people were replying so i didn't fix the post.
Thanks! i like Quynh Anh!
