Pregnant after a Loss

bra help - they're getting huge!

I was originally a 36 DDD (F), and survived with my bra extenders for the last few weeks.  But now the bras are getting painfully small, and digging into my boobs.  I've always had to buy them at specialty stores, and spend a small fortune on them.  (seriously, $80 or more for a bra should be illegal, but I have no choice - I buy a couple at a time and wear them to death).

I guess I need a 38 now, and what, an H??? I'm guessing I've gone up about 2 cup sizes. Any tips on where to get them?  I don't think that even my specialty store has them.  Any place where they won't cost me a fortune?  I REALLY don't have the money for this right now, but I'm in pain all day from having them fit so badly... help!

  • I have absolutely no clue! Just wanted to let you know I hope you do find something because this sounds painful! Can you look online?

  • Ha- thanks! I'm avoiding online because I think it'll be easier to try on in the store rather than ordering things that don't fit and having to send them back.  Grr....
  • I can tell you right now Motherhood Maternity cannot accomodate you. Surprise I went this weekend and was a 36D and am now a 36E since they do not come in DD. She told me to come back a couple weeks before delivery to be refitted and that I will probably get up to an F or a G after the baby. They do not carry larger than F (atleast our store). She did say they can direct you where you need to go. I suggest you call a local Motherhood Maternity. They may want to measure you first and order some online or simply send you elsewhere. My bras there were $18-20 a piece. I hope you find something affordable to give you some comfort soon!
  • Well, I can completely understand how you feel!! I am a 32 J and am already popping out of mine... I don't even know where to go from here!!

I will tell you that there's no way you're going to find anything beyond an F in most traditional stores. I am fortunate because we have a specialty bra store in my area; I would definitely google "specialty bra store" first or ask some ladies in your town.   Trying them on in-store is truly the best option, because I have found that there is a huge amount of variance from one bra to another... even within the same band/cup size!!!  You'll find that some just don't feel right, and some are much more comfy.

If you find that you need to shop online, a store that I've had great success with is https://www.lindasonline.com/ (Linda the Bra Lady).  I have bought both bras and swimwear from them... and they are great!  Wonderful customer service, and they ship very quickly.

Good luck finding the right fit!!  :)

Sears carries a brand called Fully in my area. It has a larger cup to accommodate full coverage. What I did was go up in the width of my bra, and the cups were fine, and I actually have ROOM. So, instead of getting my regular 42 DD I got a 46 DD and a 46 DDD for later. I agree with the prior poster that Motherhood Maternity doesn't go past F and those are hard to find. Good Luck, I know how difficult it is to find the right bra now.
