1st Trimester

Breast lump

Hi everyone - I am new here, 10 weeks pg with my first child. Yesterday in the shower I noticed a pea-sized lump on one breast, below the skin near the edge of my nipple. It is painless but a little red. Is this normal? I read that milk ducts can clog, but that it is more common in the second tri and for second pregnancies. I just saw a doctor last week and she performed a breast exam - no issues. Yesterday was the first time I noticed it. Has anyone else had this happen? I don't want to worry to much, but it is making me wonder...Thanks for any advice!

Re: Breast lump

  • I wouldn't be too worried if she was thorough with the breast exam.  Pea sized breast lumps, if they are tumors (yes, worst case scenario), do not get that way in one weeks' time.

Either way, your next OB appt, just bring it to her attention to check it out. A simple little breast exam only takes 2 minutes, no special supplies.
