I was going to ask my Dr. at my appointment later today, I just wanted to see if anyone else has any experience with this. He thinks that there is no way I will deliver vaginally if I make it to term, are vaginal inductions only scheduled after one's due date?
Re: I have a scheduled c section due to size, do Drs ever schedule early inductions due to size?
yes. with ds my OB scheduled one because he was already measuring 8 1/2 lbs. luckily he came on his own 4 days before the induction date. (FWIW, he was 9lbs).
i would refuse a scheduled c/s because of size. i would rather attempt a vaginal delivery first. especially since no one can guess a totally accurate size - ultrasound or not.
This. My sister had a scheduled induction about a week before her due date because her OB thought she was having a big baby. My niece ended up weighing 7 lb some odd ounces.
I would talk to your doctor about letting you attempt a vaginal birth. There is no way of accurately predicting whether a baby will be "too big" until a mother is in active labor and has been pushing for 3+ hours. Unfortunately big babies are misdiagnosed and automatically made c-sections way too frequently.
Here is an interesting link on the topic:

At 37 weeks my SIL had a planned c-section with her first baby because the doc said the baby was going to be over 8lbs. My niece ended up being only 7lbs. My SIL was blessed with a healthy little girl but ended up with complications after the c-section.
I would be talking to your Dr. We were facing the possibility of our LO having a huge head (it had been measuring 4 weeks ahead for about 2/3 months). We discussed c-sections and whatnot. My MW said they would never push for a c-section based on size alone.
While a baby may be measuring big (and even those measurements aren't accurate), there is no way to tell if the baby is "too big" until you are delivering.
