Worst night ever

I'm bumping at 3:50 in the damn morning because this kid has been up almost every.frickin.hour since I put her to bed and I have yet to get more than an hour of solid sleep. I put her down at 10:20 and she got up at 11:24, 12:45, 2:20 and 3:40. And of course I have to work tomorrow night. FML.

  • I replied to your post on FB too but wanted to send a couple of virtual hugs your way and hold up a cyber board for you to bang your head against.

Hang in there sweets, those nights are godawful but the bumpy patches will soon be outnumbered by the smooth ones, I promise.

  • Oh Christine, I am soo sorry. I used to have MANY nights like that with Jaylee when she was teething. HUGS to you and know that this phase will pass.
  • I'm thinking we're hitting the 4 month wakeful period early. Because after nursing she usually goes right to sleep but she didn't at all last night. It's just bad timing because I work tonight and didn't get longer than a 2 hr stretch of sleep. Ugh.

Lisa k, yeah Brady usually puts her back to sleep but he wasn't home the first two times she woke. He put her to sleep the third time and the fourth time I finally got up to nurse her. I don't nurse her before 4-ish and usually she'll wake up one before 4. That's when he puts her to back to sleep. Then after that I get up to nurse her. I'm trying to get her to sleep from 10-4 straight but it's not working so well yet. :(

  • ugh. i'm sorry :( that totally sucks. there isnt' much i can say to make you get those lost hours of sleep, i just hope work isn't crazy busy so you aren't too tired.
  • Thanks, ladies.  Sorry I'm complaining about it AGAIN.  I just can't take it some times.  She had been doing better.  Just figures it's the night before I have to work that she would do this.

I'm thinking she's hitting some developmental milestone or something because she was SUPER talkative yesterday.  More than she ever had been.  She wakes up at night babbling away for a while before she starts to whine or cry.  And the whole getting distracted during nursing thing.  I just hope this phase passes quickly and she sleeps better soon.

  • Hope you start getting some serious sleep mama!

Eeek, that sounds rough. Hope Kaya gets over this phase soon (maybe she's going through a growth spurt?) and that you get lots of rest soon! I wouldn't know how I'd do it if I had to work =/

  • Aw that sucks big time Christine!

I'm not sure if this was coincidence or not, but I put a flat-ish pillow under one side of the mattress in E's crib when she was having so much trouble sleeping.  I thought she maybe having some reflux problems.  It might be worth a try?

I tried that and she'd just end up sideways and sliding to the foot of the mattress.  How'd you prevent that?

  • Ugh, we had one of those last week.  I feel for you!

I felt like when I went back to work a few days a week in the beginning that he KNEW when I had to go to work b/c those were the nights he would stay up crazy late or wake up multiple times!

    Hope it gets better soon.

This is exactly how I feel!  Ugh.

  • I'm sorry :(

I wonder if they can sense it?  Jack acts a little different nights before I work - I think he notices the flurry of activity (prepping bottles, packing our work bags, setting out diapers, and whatever else we do differently)  Luckily he hasn't decided to go on a sleep strike, but he is a little more clingy and won't let me out of his sight.
