We took the bottle away, at the same time as transitioning to whole milk. Dd wants nothing to do with it! In the last 5 days she has had maybe 6oz. of milk. I've tried mixing it with a strawberry and chocolate nutripal drink, it was a no go. She does a little bit better with 2oz of formula mixed in, but it's still not much.
I'm worried about her getting dehydrated, although she is taking juice and water. I'm waiting on call from the pedi.
Did anyone else have problems? How long did it take your lo to be 'okay' with the new milk?
Re: Did any1s lo struggle with the milk transition?
With DD, we first transitioned her to whole milk before taking away the bottle. Then, once she was ok with just cow's milk, we started taking the bottle away slowly. We would drop one bottle a day.
I think the fact that you took away her bottle, and switched to whole milk was way too much change for her. I would see what your pedi recommends. You may have to go back to the the bottle for a while until she gets used to the cow's milk, and then try to get rid of it. Good luck.
This is exactly what I thought!
At her appt. Thursday the pedi said to go ahead and do both since she was already a year old.
Still waiting for the pedi to call back, they take forever! I will let you all know what I find out!
Thanks!
Your LO won't get dehydrated without milk. DS never took to milk, and his pedi wasn't concerned. He eats cheese and gets fats and calcium from other foods.
The beginning of the week is usually when parents with medical issues from the weekend are calling the pedi. I think you'e getting better advice here than you'll be able to get from the pedi.
