HI! I just took my first round of clomid (100mg) and I have a very irregular period. When I say irregular I mean I have no idea when it will come (AT ALL)! The last time there was 85 days btwn periods, before then 52, before then 71. I have no pattern at all. With that said, I am confused as to how long to wait to take a test? Like most of you I am sick of getting negatives, but I dont really want to wait 3 months to take a test because I dont want to do anything wrong if I am PG.
Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions as to when to take a test. It has been 32 since my period.
Thanks!
Re: Clomid & Irregular Period
In my unmedicated cycles, my doctor always had me test on CD 35 and if negative, to start provera that day to bring AF.
In my first Clomid cycle, I rebelled and didn't take provera until CD 124 and then went straight into a research study.
At my monitoring appointments, they tell me if I O'd or not. If not, I either go straight into the next cycle, or will start provera to get the next cycle started.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
Sorry for the confusion, I am talking about taking a pregnancy test, not an ovulation test. I am not being monitored by my dr at all. I wanted to know when to take a pregnancy test, I dont have a clue as to when to take a pregnancy test since my cycle is very random.
How long have you been TTC? Are you charting your temperatures? If you were, you could see 1) whether or not you ovulate and 2) roughly when you ovulate. Then you could test starting at 14 days from the day you ovulated. Hope that helps!

This is all new to me. My OBGYN said that I could take the 100 mg without being monitored and said I can do that for 3 months before having to see anyone else. I have tried to monitor this month, but I couldnt tell if I ovulated or not. I checked some info out and it said clomid may make it hard to detects. I have been TTC for about 13 months now.
Thank you for being helpful. I guess I will just have to take a test and go from there. I will def. look into being monitored. I had no idea that I should be.
Thank you! Katrina
What the fvck?
Get thee to an RE for some REAL medical care. STAT.
Please do NOT listen to this dr. Switch to an RE! You should NOT take clomid unmonitored.
You don't know how many follies (if any) you're making. (You could end up pregnant with multiples) What if it has thinned your lining beyond function? Caused cysts?
Also ,have you hadCD3 b/w and u/s, 7DPO b/w, an HSG and a SA before doing Clomid??
Love & luck to my 3TC girls. Congrats to Omega-The boys are here!
If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
Your OB is a moron.
From experience, the verrry first time I went to my OB for help, she sent me to an RE. My first RE handed Clomid out like candy. Said here, try for 3 months and come back if you arent pregnant. It was awful. I then moved to my current RE office, and he was stunned that the other guy would do such a thing. Clomid isnt something that you just guess and mess around with.
Please read this post. It's about the dangers of not being monitored while on clomid.
Why monitoring is so important when you are on Clomid
