used carseats?

Would you buy used carseats? A girl in my MoMs club is selling her britax marathon carseats. I can't afford to buy these new, so I was planning on buying a cheaper carseat when my girls grow out of their infant seats. Do the britax carseats have an expiration date? I think they are 5 years old. Would you buy them or buy a cheaper new carseat?

i accepted 2 used Britax convertible seats from my SIL (for free) b/c I knew 100% that they were never in an accident... i would not buy them from someone if I wasn't 100% sure they were never in an accident --- and being 5 yrs old - i certainly wouldn't pay much at all if you did buy them. Yes- they do expire- it should say somewhere on the label.

I believe Britax's expire at 6 years, so that would only leave 1 year of use left on them... you'd have to check the manufacture date on the inside of the seat.

I would only buy a used car seat if I knew the person who was selling it really well and it was only a year or two old. I think you'd be better off buying a less expensive seat brand new that a Britax that is 5 years old.

I wouldn't do it and def not 5 year old ones. I think like pp said, you'd be better off getting a less expensive car seat new.

I wouldn't purchase a used car seat from anyone that I didn't know really well.
