Spitting Up

Does anyone else's DC spit up a lot? Seems like after EVERY feeding (I BF) he spits up at least 5 times..sometimes more! He's gaining weight but I have no idea how. I think I'm going to call the Pedi to see what I should do to calm the spitting up down a little..just curious if anyone else is going through this.

Re: Spitting Up

  • Mine spits up after almost every feeding as well. I BF.  SHe seems to spit up more with BF than bottle feeding.  The doc didn't seem concerned since DD is gaining weight.

  • DD spits up alot to but she does not seem to be bothered by it so I have not thought much of it. I just try to burp her more. Sometimes I think my milk flows to fast for her and that causes her to spit iot back up.
  • Do you burp him between breasts?  More often?  One book I read recommended every 5 minutes, give him some time to burp.

How is his latch?  Is there air getting in at the corners of his mouth?

  • OMG_-Mine is just like that.  I was going to post the same thing.  I BF too and he does better with the bottle usually (until last night where he spit up most of it).  Sometimes he's bothered by it--other times not.  But the doctor's think that mine has reflux--he was on zantac, then changed to prevacid and then I took him off after a few days on that.  He didn't do that great on it.  He was fine for a few days and now he's bad again.

MY DS also hiccups a lot--which causes him to spit up even more.

So I guess some spitting up is normal as long as they're not crying after it.
