My LO has been so fussy and seems to have stomach issues. He tenses up and kicks his legs and tightens his stomach. This has been going on for quite a while now. I have tried no dairy. That didn't help. He has been on zantac for AR which didn't help and now just started prilosec. He also has a med to relax his stomach which I don't think helps much. I have two friends that had the same issues with their LOs. One used alimentum and the other used nutramigen. It sounded like there was a night and day difference once they started them on these formulas. DS is currently breastfeed with the occasional formula bottle. I am tempted to try one of these formulas for a week and pump to keep up my supply. I'd like to see if it makes any difference. Recommendations?
Re: Anyone use alimentum or nutramigen?
Thats great to hear it worked so well! I was thinking of trying nutramingen first because he is on enfamil gentlease right now when he does have formula. I hate to quit BFing but if it makes him feel better and makes him happier it is definitely worth it! I'm not looking forward to the price though...oh well! Happy baby = happy mommy!
Our pediatrician said if he responds better to Enfamil in general, he'd likely do better on Nutramigen (which was the case). We had tried Similac Sensitive and Alimentum before, and neither helped. If you're seeing your ped soon, might ask for a sample of it, or if not buy the 19 oz. cans from Target or Babies R Us. They are a better deal than buying the smaller cans, and I've only seen them at these two stores. They say to give it at least a week. When we tried it, I cut out breast milk all together (and just kept pumping, which was a lot of work) just in case it was something in the breast milk that wasn't working with him. We knew we'd have no idea if the formula was working or not if he kept getting any breast milk. I just froze what I pumped just in case we needed to go back.
GL!! I hope you find something that helps your LO soon! Our babies are a day apart
Omg they are! Thats so neat!
Thanks for all the info! I was thinking of doing the same thing, trying for a week then cutting out bm all together during that week. Like you said, there is no way of knowing if it is something in the breastmilk if you don't cut it out during that time. Hopefully we can figure out what is causing him all the pain and fix it! I feel awful for him! I'll check with my pedi to see if they have any samples. It is quite expensive from what I have seen. Worth it though if it works!

I think it's more common than anything thinks for babies to not do well on breast milk. It's weird no one talks about it, I had the same experience and was surprised.
Exactly! You'd think there wouldn't be so many issues with something so natural! Hopefully trying out formula will be helpful!

I posted this a few days ago and although I have cut out all dairy, soy and anything "gassy", I just had people tell me to keep cutting that stuff out and it will get "better". Well I'm glad you posted this b/c I've been a little guilt ridden the last few days. At least I know other people are going through this too. For my LO, breast isn't best.
