All of you probably know by now DH is active duty Air Force. And the subject was brought up on how he will be deploying again from the end of this year to sometime in 2011. This lady honestly told me, "war isn't that hard nowadays. You have nothing to worry about." You have got to be kidding me.

Here is what I said in a nutshell
I would really think about what you say. No war is easier or different, it's all the same PEOPLE DIE. My husband's base was attacked WHILE I WAS TALKING TO HIM. Pictures can never tell the true story. So don't tell me one war is easier from another, when you get a lick of sense, talk to me.

Some people are so ignorant!
Much thanks to your DH for what he does! T & P for you and your family!
War is war, no matter what the time period is.
Glad you ripped her out. She deserved it.
I was coming in here to say pretty much that.
What she said sounds like something my grandmother would say. And honestly, I can see her point. There were nearly 60,000 U.S. soldiers killed in the Korean war, and that only lasted 3 years. Casualties from Iraq and Afghanistan don't amount to a tenth of that. So, I think what she was probably trying to say, is the risk of losing someone during wartime now is much much less. Probably not the smartest thing to say to a military wife, but I'm sure she meant nothing offensive by it.
