Are you planning to save your placenta?

in 2nd Trimester

If so, are you planning to put it in a glass jar or just a regular container?

Okay, I'm kidding! But I'm thrilled to be joining you guys! I can't believe how quickly 1st tri flew by and  I look forward to spending time with you guys!

    I've heard if you cook it, its like a pot roast, mix in some carrots, onions and red potatoes...yummmmmmIck!..lol

    I am! I'm gonna boil it and eat it. Yum!

    Kidding! But I did read a blog (with lots of graphic pictures) of a mom who boiled hers and turned it into capsules. Supposed to be healthy but too gross for me. A lady from our local natural foods store came to our mom's group to talk about doing this.

    OMG - some lady came up to me in the store the other day and out of nowhere told me I should have it dried and turned into vitamin capsules to prevent PPD.  I almost died.

    I read this and almost died! My hubby has been joking that we were going to keep it in formaldehyde and show it off at parties and special events! As a scientist this is not sick to me but NO WAY JOSE! Not keeping it! I do have a friend (fellow scientist) who donated hers to a local teaching hospital - I'm actually considering that. :)

    My brother and SIL  have a friend who gave birth at home and for reasons that she felt benefited her newborn, chose not to cut the umbilical cord.  I kid you not, for days she actually carried around the placenta in a basket still attached to her baby until it naturally rotted off!  She then buried it in the back yard and planted a peach tree on top.  Gag!

    I heard it's good for your hair. I know you used to be able to get some shampoo with placenta in it at CVS..

    hmm..I've heard its beneficial to not cut the cord for a few minutes.

    Welcome! I have heard of woman having there's turned dried and encapsulated. It supposed to help with PDD and PP shedding of  hair.
