Do you think the color make a big difference in how hot it is? I want one that is black, but we live in TX and LO is due in July so I was thinking I should get a lighter color wrap. Do you ladies think the black would be significantly hotter than a white one?
Re: question about moby wrap (or similiar wrap)
yeah I don't know if color would really matter honestly. I have heard of ladies here getting their own fabric and getting something lighter like a gauze. I have a brown moby and I love it but my DD was also born in November in Ohio.
The moby is going to be hot in the summer regardless of color, but if you're in the sun, black will make it worse.
I bought 6 yards of white cotton gauze to make a gauze wrap for this summer (I'm due in July) so I'm hoping that will be more comfortable. I used to wear a moby inside in the fall and I'd get sweaty hot, I can't imagine it in the summer!
I say this with love, but DO NOT get the moby for a July in Texas baby. You will literally roast to death, no matter what colour it is. I had DD in October in Sydney (that's late spring for us) and I only wore it out a handful of times because I felt like I was going to die whenever it was on. It was equivalent to putting on a winter coat in the blazing sun. I did, however, use it in the air conditioning quite a bit, so if that's what you are thinking you will use it for, then definitely go for it.
You could think about a woven wrap instead, if you are interested in a wrap for summer. They are much much cooler and the bonus part is that you can use them a lot longer than a moby (which DD got to heavy for at three months).
I am using the Bali Baby Breeze wrap, which is a cotton gauze. So far, I really like it. I figured I'd give it a try before I committed to a more expensive woven wrap. We also got a Babyhawk for DH, which might be a little bit cooler than a Moby.
I have also heard several ladies on here suggest BBSlen wraps for warmer climates. Links for the Bali Baby and Babyhawk are below. I think that you can get a BBSlen at pieceofcloth.com. HTH...
