Smokey Outside in New England???

I went outside earlier and it looked/smelled smokey. I thought there was a nearby fire, then assumed maybe a ton of BBQs in the area (Memorial Day in the US) might explain it since it was lunchtime...

but then I saw the Boston Globe - Canadian fires bring smoke to New England  but nothing on a local fire... is everyone else seeing all this smoke in NH/MA (and VT/ME?)??? it seems too smokey to be coming from Canadian Forest Fires... Any Canadians or New Englanders/Bostonians know whats going on?

    DH and I just took our dog for a walk and noticed the same thing! It looks like there is a blanket of haze on the whole city. We're in the South End...

    My husband mentioned seeing/smelling smoke on his way to the office this morning. I hadn't heard anything and thought he was nuts.  I noticed it was "hazy" outside this morning too and then he called to tell me that Boston was, in fact, smokey because of the Canadian fires (and that he's not crazy). I can definitely see the smoke in the sky.

    Yes, we noticed it here in Maine.  Even though its sunny, it looked hazy/fuzzy/smoky.  Glad to have an explanation.

    It made the local news here in CT - just a quick blip that if you were traveling north today don't be surprised if you smell smoke/see a smoky haze because of the fires in Quebec.  The air is clear down here though, well as clear as it normally is. :)

    I live in upstate NY about 3 hours north of NYC....its smoky and my eyes are burning....lovely.

    Yes! I'm in Plymouth and it's ridiculous!!  I can't believe it's this smokey and smelly all the way from Canada!!

    so this IS all from Canada? how bad is it up there? Indifferent

    my breathing was crap when I went outside so I came right home.

    I am in Ottawa Canada and it's been pretty smokey here.  There are forest fires in Quebec which is a bit further northeast from us, so it doesn't surprise me that you are getting some of it too.
