Considering keeping last two nursing sessions but how to deal with teeth?

So I am down to two nursing sessions a day (7AM and 7PM) and was considering pulling the plug due to teeth! <aakk> Our DS has his bottom two front teeth in and the past couple days he has bitten down on me just before letting go of the latch when he is done and it HURTS SO BADLY! I actually scream out!

How do you deal with this? I can't even think about when the front top two teeth come in. <shudders>

  • good info and advice here: https://www.kellymom.com/bf/older-baby/biting.html

Drew's only bitten me twice - once when his bottom two teeth came in and once when the top two came in.  Both times I immediately took him off the breast and said 'no biting.'  Both times he bit at the end of nursing when he was basically done so for about a week I would watch closer and take him off when he was done.

Once he got used to each set of teeth I didn't have to keep on eye on him.  He hasn't bit me since.

  • Watch him really closely.  If it's at the end of a session, unlatch him when he's done.  Many babies won't bite while nursing, but they will when they're done or bored.  I nurse ds with 13 teeth and a 14th on its way and I've only been bitten once or twice.  (it's the razor sharp brand new teeth rubbing that bothers me!)
