The scariest baby swing ever!

My inlaws dropped it off the other day. It's by Cosco and offers no support for a newborn, very cheap constuction and very fast speeds. DH LOVES it because his parents saved us money. I told him he puts the baby in it and I will be furious. Guess what I'm taking apart while he's golfing. LOL

This is a picture - don't buy this item ladies!

Re: The scariest baby swing ever!

  • It just looks like it's meant for older babies. They had similar kinds at daycare, and the babies (3-6 months) were all fine in them.

  • I don't know anything about that swing but did you recline it at all? It looks like a regular swing. Not as nice as a papasan but it looks fine. I know you say the swing speed is fast but keep in mind it slows a lot when you put a baby in it. At least in our case, you use low speeds until the child is heavier and the swing isn't moving as fast as it should.
  • Really? Ok...maybe I will only hide for for three months then (lol).

DH said he just needed to stick on velco straps so she didn't fall out. Just the words strap on velco scared me enough to fold it up and hide it. In all my years of being a nanny I have never seen such a cheap model.

Good point with the recline. I will check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • those swings are fine. You recline it--it says 3 pos recline on the description--and put baby in. Our hospital uses them on babies that are a few days old.

    give it a shot.

  • yeh, just recline it, goof!  and it will go much slower with the weight of a baby in it.  at least your in laws got something for your baby.
  • From the reviews on that site it sounds like whatever you saved on the swing is going to be offset by the cost of batteries. One out of five stars, wow.

  • Looks normal?

    Buy rechargeable batteries though!

  • Can't you just try to exchange it and use the money toward a model you really want - or get a bouncy chair instead?

  • i have a similar swing from a friend that she had used, it reclines...a lot and goes slow.  I think I changed the batteries twice in a year.  I had 2 friends use it this past year with out issues aswell.
