Reasons for a fever?

DS started running a fever earlier today. It has ranged from 100.2-101.6. We have been alternating Motrin and Tylenol. I'm at a loss for the reason though. He has no other symptoms that we have noticed. The only reason we noticed the fever is because this afternoon DH and I were on the couch with DS and noticed that he was very cuddly (he usually hates to cuddle, even when he is tired). No cough, runny nose, sneezing, ear pulling, vomiting, diarreah, and appetite is fine. Any thoughts?

    Sometimes the fever and fatigue appear before a little cold or sometimes it just means baby has a low grade infection that will never turn into something.  Also it could be a sign of teething.

    Teething?

    Our LO ran a fever on Thursday and Friday, woke up Thursday night to eat and vomited. This is the first time he has been sick. He cried and sometimes screamed all day on Friday. I had never seen him act this way. Guess what I found Saturday morning? My kid turned into a vampire overnight. Both his eye teeth were in. To bad it's not October.

    Could be teething. He doesn't have any yet but has had two little bumps on the bottom for months.

    my guess is teeth? i have heard LO may run fever before a tooth pops out. Mine hasnt had this happen...but it could. ;-)

    This was my DD last week too. However on the 3rd day of running a fever we took her to the pedi and she ended up having a throat infection. She was like you no other symptoms except the fever and extra snuggly. Teething doesn't cause a persistent fever. Trust your gut and if you think it is more than teething definitely take your DS to the pedi.

    So many different opinions from pedi's......I always thought teething fevers didn't go above 100. Our pedi said they can go as high as 102, he also says a fever under 100.5 does not need treatment (only giving med if they are uncomfortable). My LO ran a 3 day fever last weekend, ranging from 99-102....it was teeth.

    Interesting on the teething fevers.

    DD woke up from a nap on Saturday with a fever of 102.  We dosed with Tylenol but it didn't budge (ie. the tylenol would bring it down but then it would go up again before the next dose) through yesterday.  Then she woke up fine this morning.  No other symptoms.  None.   She was eating, drinking and active as usual.   I felt bad because she was acting healthy enough to go out, but we kept her home in case she had something that turned out to be contagious.

    Two kids in another room at her daycare had roseola, so we thought it was that and have been looking for a rash, but I don't see any.
