After BM is warmed...

How long can you wait to give it to LO? I keep bottles of BM in the fridge for when I need to go somewhere. He likes them room temperature but not cold so I'm wondering if I can heat them a little in the bottle warmer and then put them in the diaper bad until I need it. What's the deal?

Re: After BM is warmed...

  • I believe the rule is 4-6 hours at room temp (or warmed)

the hospital gave us a very helpful magnet that I use to look at often. (stopped bf'ing at 2 months, so haven't looked at it lately)

  • My hospital told me that freshly expressed breastmilk can be stored at room temperature for 7 hours.  I'm not sure if the cooling then warming up has any effect on it.
  • Could you bring it with you cold but without insulation. It would probably be warm by the time you needed it and would be warm for less time. Not sure what the rule is cuz our son likes it cold.
